After a 7 year hiatus from driving a Tacoma, I'm finally back in one and couldn't be happier. From 2016 till just yesterday I was driving a 2016 4R Trail Edition so I didn't stray too far. Looking forward to doing a few mods but nothing huge.

    It's good to be back!

Nice and welcome back. It didn't take you long to swap wheels. I made it 91 miles before swapping to 21 4Runner Wheels, lol.

What's the story with those wheels and tires? Did the dealer do the swap as part of purchase?

The wheels that are currently on are just my winter ones (Hakkas on FN fx Pro wheels). It's been a strange winter so far. We get dumped on with tons of snow then it melts and the process repeats. Normally it's 100% snow all winter. I'll put the stock ones back on come spring.

Ah, that makes sense. I'm not used to dealing with that. Honestly, it's kind of cool to have a good excuse for a 2nd set if wheels/tires. ;)

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Nice truck man. Envious of your double tire situation. Our evolution appears on the same course. G2 sport to 4runner back to g3 PRO taco....

I kept my Old sport. 4runner is wifes

There is something great about black TRD Pros... simple color but just great looking.

Not a bad trade off. Although, I could do without the snow.

I wish I could have kept my Gen 2. The 4R is a great truck but for some reason I just really wanted back into a Tacoma. It's early but I can't say I missed my 4R. I'll be putting the Taco to work this spring, summer, fall with things I need to get done around the house/yard. Not to mention getting it on the trails. Should be fun.

Wife drives a RAV4...atleast it's in the Toyota family. Lol

Thanks bud. I actually really like the ELM and Solar Octane but it's just too 'flashy' for me. I had the chance last April at a Pro ELM but just couldn't pull the trigger but man I love seeing them around.

Same here. I think both are awesome colors but I'm more of a silver and grey person and went MGM. The Metallic black is special too but I didn't want to deal with the care of black.

Congrats, and welcome back! I went from a 3rd gen Taco to a 2022 4Runner Trail...but I miss my Taco & am waiting for the right deal to get back into a new one. My 4runner is great, and most Taco to 4Runner converts never look back. Guess we're in the minority.

No money, all went to truck...
I'd really like to know your perspective on both. I always think about getting a 4runner, especially trail edition.

    I had a 97 4runner (I miss dearly) then a 2012 taco (don't miss it) and now a 2022 taco (I love this one).
