I would say s/c IF you went with a power adder.

Turbo lag might get in the way and jerk the car/tow when you hit full boost versus having the power right then and there with a s/c

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
Maybe the tundra mod? JK mine tows pretty well stock( not like my old f-150 ) but I have pulled a 21 foot center council up the 5 from san clement to the ranch, it was not great but did the job. I think the issue is the rear springs and stopping power from what i remember.

What? jerkin when a turbo kicks in?? ummm...no..not even close..There is no jerking from a turbo kickin in at all. all it is is a rush of acceleration. There will never be a jerk. Hence why every big ass towing truck is TURBO diesel. Turbo make way more power the SC do. also another reason to use one.

OP, Id go turbo any day over a SC....or just get a bigger vehicle :p

I have a supercharger and I tow. The power is right off the line, so its not bad at all at stoplights getting stopped and started, it can carry through the mountains pretty well.

OMG you guys have been watching too much Fast and Furoius, lol...
Maybe if it was a 200 shot of NOS it would jerk.

Turbo will not jerk the truck, it will be fine, I had the 2RZ making 18psi and towed with it all the time, no jerking.

But to answer the OPs question the SC would be your best bet since it is smog legal, easily installed, and doesnt need to be fabricated..done and done. Oh dont forget fueling mods..most people dont even know you need them (1st gens)

TRD one. You'll have to find one used.

Also i have heard that there are ECU issues with 95-96 tacos that were so bad that TRD gave up and just said the SC was good for 97-04.

I have always wondered if you could do an ECU swap...but idk??
