No battery bank included with this system. It ties into the grid. You make more power than you consume it goes back in and the power company pays you. You need more then you can make and you pay for what you use same as always. Battery bank was added cost.

You don't need an adapter. And if you do, it's literally in the car. That's like saying don't forget your keys. It isn't the burn you think it is.

Small, light, quick. Take all those vehicles and cut their volume and mass by 60%. Most of them only have one person inside, maybe two, traveling less that 50 miles daily on commute. Americans will never do it until forced economically.

I was at the gas station yesterday everyone was filling up because of the snow. Every charging stall was full of people charging their EV.

EV or gas? It's kind of the same thing except gas is quicker, faster, and easier to obtain than electricity for your automobile.

Americans will literally make electric unicycles before they invest in rail infrastructure.

I think the aspect of 'appropriately designed EVs' that is being mentioned here is the concept of vehicles that communicate and coordinate autonomously to move through traffic much more efficiently, reducing lag times in start/stop so traffic is just less severe.

Can't a moped achieve the same results?

I get it. The standard system.

If I’m not mistaken, excess power generated is not paid back to you at the same rate as if you need it from them. Wouldn’t it be nice to keep what you produce?

I mean one that accelerates 0-60 in same timeframe or less (easy, done,) has the same (or greater) tow capacity (easy, no problem with electric torque,) has roughly the same size & form factor, cargo capacity, 4WD functionality -- no problem. AND that has a 400+ mile range at 60mph average speed, unladen. It's this last part that isn't yet done.

Those sound like good ideas, but the traffic lights aren't even synchronized in most urban areas.

Who is going to coordinate the movement of physical vehicles through AI?

Some of these goals are not achievable.

Yep. Currently electric bicycles could provide lots of transport options for pennies, but Americans aren’t interested. Step up beyond that to a small, light quality EV that protects you from the elements, and I think you’d have what the intent really is.

Interesting. Their miles per kWh is 3.9, which seems low. That’s a pretty significant difference over the miles.

Their assumption that you’ll have to drive 1327 dead head miles per year to recharge a luxury ev, but only 255 for a mid priced one is weird too. Edit: ah I see the difference, they assume you’ll have to drive that far out of the way to find a charger. Hmmm

This study seems suspicious at best.

Some local commute EV motorcycles can be had for under $7k You'll get under 100 miles a charge but for some, like myself, it's plenty.

You mean that Anderson Economic Group, based in the car manufacturing capital of American, Lansing Michigan, whose board and consultancy list is made up for current and former car execs, is suggesting that ICE cars are the future?

    Say it ain't so!

Don’t get me wrong - I like gas. I like it a lot for hauling, towing and long distance travel. But most of my time in a vehicle is spent sitting in traffic on a daily 25 mile commute.

I don’t need a Model S or any other full sized EV for that. I need light, quick and cheap. I want protection from the weather and reliability. My second car, if you will. With the Tacoma or similar in the garage beside it.

Not achievable this year or in 5 years, but in 15-20 years, quite possible.

Back in the early 1900's when cars started to replace horse & carriage there was a huge contingent of naysayers & deniers who said cars will never go mainstream, etc etc. Same with early urban electrification. There were major false starts (see: trying to use a DC distribution grid) but eventually a marketplace-competitive solution won out and became the standard for mass adoption.

I'm under 10 miles round trip. An EV motorcycle is high on the list of purchases.
