I haven't driven an NA 3.4l since before I got my truck, can definitely feel the difference. The 4runner definitely doesn't have the get up and go that the truck does and it's weird not hearing the whine. It's all quiet and comfy not obnoxiously loud and rough as hell

But no, the truck stays the truck for my solo shenanigans whenever they might arise, the T4R is going to stay more a family friendly build because that was the primary reason for getting it. Plus, she's an older gal with 255k, my truck at 104k can handle that abuse better

Thanks! I think I'll admire them from afar haha. It's a bummer when you have a manufacturer do some things really well then let the whole thing down with subpar components and shit that's just going to go wrong or need replacing repeatedly etc. I think if I had some land or just wanted a spare truck to purposefully beat up then it'd work out. But I could get a 1st gen 4Runner and be better off. Glad I asked though. Cons outweigh the pros.

 

I read a few accounts of how shit the Dana 35 is as well. One even mentioned that they'd seen 31s kill it.
