Today I bought a 2017 TRD Sport with a manual transmission.

It's the fastest car I've ever owned, and I'm pretty happy about it. The Chev dealership wanted my VW TDI as a trade, but I didn't want to give up my mile-hole just yet so I towed it home.

It's got some aftermarket parts that I'm not interested in keeping, as well as one stock part in particular - that darn fake hood scoop. Other than that I'm sure it'll last longer than I need it to!

Welcome to the forum. You can make some money trading your hood for a non scooped one.

Welcome to TW! Nice truck. Love the colour and miss the days of my prior manuals. If I was single and didn’t have a young family I would have bought the MT as well.

Thanks! I'd trade straight across to someone near the PNW, but my account is too young to post up in the classifieds! I'll also have a spacer lift up for sale so long as these oversized tires don't rub after taking the lift off.

The key trick to getting the manual is to simply not buy the automatic. It might take longer and require more traveling to get the vehicle you want, but it works every time.

People have paid several hundred to trade their flat hood for the scooped hood so don’t sell yourself short!

Take the extra from from hood swapping (people love the scoop and pay a decent amount over to swap) and buy yourself a grill you like. Lots of folk here go for the heritage grill, so if you like one of the other stock grills (SR5 and OR are nice), you can pick one up for a pretty good price.

So nobody's going to say anything about the Tacoma being the fastest vehicle he's ever owned?

I’ll guess a 1974 Ford Pinto, a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle, and a career driving a dump truck. Because Tacomas do a lot of things, but going fast is not one.

Tacoma is the fastest vehicle I’ve ever owned as well. My previous vehicle had 207 hp.

I mean the taco has 278 hp, not slow by any means.

I've had motorcycles that were obviously much quicker, but here's my list of vehicles so far, from the beginning:

    • '95 Taco
    • '04 Subaru Impreza (non-turbo boxer 4)
    • '87 F150 (inline six)
    • '90 F250 (non-turbo 7.3)
    • '98 Ranger (3l V6)
    • '12 Golf TDI (2l turbodiesel)
    • '01 Sequoia
    • '86 Land Cruiser HJ60 (4l inline 6 non-turbo diesel)
    • '17 Taco (3.5)
I still have the Golf and the Land Cruiser, but the LC is for sale.

Congratulations on the new truck. :hattip:

You must have had some real slugs as previous vehicles or a limited number for the Tacoma to be the fastest. Nothing wrong with that. Speed isn't everything... well except for me maybe... :bananadance::rofl:

Now, let's get serious for a moment, how dare you come here and start talking smack about that beautiful hood SKEWP!!! It isn't fake, that is the realm of unicorns, pixies and leprechauns!!! Now excuse me while I go out to my truck and pet my SKEWP, and let it know the mean man does know what he is talking about!!
