I’m with some of you other guys that ended up with a loud set. It was fine for a while on normal 60 mph highway. But now that I’m traveling more on 70+ freeway I’m over it. Mine are coming off soon.

They wear great though. I have about 7k miles on them and they look brand new still.

Wanted to add to the GY Duratrac megathread here.

I got a set of Duratracs SL in 265/70/r16. They have as deep of tread as most other LT versions of tires with 16/32nds. I was able to get them for about $115 from Discount Tire Direct during the spring sale.

There have been no issues with balancing. Road noise is there, but its not really noticeable unless my windows are down. Been down the highway at 80mph with no issues.

I'm impressed with them. I know I sacrificed some puncture resistance, but I only need them for winter, sand, and camping. So I'm pretty happy with the results.

Hey everyone just a heads up 4 wheel partshas buy 4 get 150 off select tires including duratrac.

Ended up getting a price match from discount tires for 4 tires, mounted with certificates, with a rebate for $735.

Not bad considering the closest I could find 265/75/16 C- Load price was well over $1,000 out the door.

hey y'all, curious to hear people's long term thoughts. i'm looking at getting a new set of tires for my first gen and the Duratrac is one of the two final contenders. likely going to be in a 285/75R16. I was sold on them for a bit but i am leery due to some reviews saying that they turn to absolute crap once you are past 50% tread. for context, my other option is a set of General Grabber A/Tx tires (basically a KO2 equivalent tread pattern). my main needs are some light off-road capability (enough to get me into a sticky situation when i feel like it:D), durability, snow performance, and Decent longevity.

I bought a set of used duratracs this past winter and I thought they didn’t do as well in the snow and ice as the Laufen tires I had on previously or the BFG All Terrains. Seemed like I was breaking loose in corners at much lower speeds. They may be better in the deep snow and definitely better in the mud, but I was surprised at how poorly they handled packed snow and ice. That said, I’ll probably buy them again on the pickup I have them on. They’re better than highway tire in the snow, and have definitely got me further in the mud than other tires.

ok, about what i expected. Overall, for a truck that is mostly a DD in a place with cold winters (i'm living in Seattle currently but have plans to move to Bozeman MT sometime this summer) and sees some occasional light wheeling and a decent amount of forest roads, do you think i'd be better off with the BFG equivalent (actually generals but more ppl have run BFGs) or the Duratrac. i will be buying new but at this point, i'm not looking to replace my tires any time soon.

Duratracs are solid, I had one w a snapped belt inside it w very low milage which didnt impress but they were replaced at mo cost. Shocked how good they have been in Ontario winters. They are coming off for the summer months tho as they hurt my mpgs pretty badly

how many miles do you have on them? my main concern is now mileage with them. I don't want to buy a set of tires and then have them be unlivable 10k miles into ownership. I don't put too many miles on my rig each year but still.

That was my experience in the winter too. I ended up selling them. The road noise and wandering on the highway weren’t worth the compromise to me if they weren’t going to be better in the winter.

I haven’t had a wandering issue and the road noise for me isn’t much of an issue since it’s mostly a camping and forrest service roads with light wheeling rig for me. But, they won’t be going on my daily driver any time soon. I think if I was going to live somewhere with a lot of muddy roads like the southeast, I’d run them on my daily.

I ran them for 40K miles.
    Moab destroyed them.
Absolutely an amazing tire and I love this pic of them.

Got my truck a couple of weeks ago. It came with GY Duratrac tires installed the regional distributor (Southeast Toyota).

Test drove a few other Tacoma's with stock tires. My wife and I both agreed they seemed to ride rougher. Could have been air pressure, etc., but it was a noticeable/significant difference to us.

Appearance, driving, and overall ride the Duratrac tires look and feel great. Smooth, just a little road noise, and seem responsive in curves. They do seem to walk the road a little, but it might just be me. Haven't had them off-road, so can't speak to that. Looks like they're probably not best friends w/MPG, but I can't really speak to that yet either.

As it stands right now, I think they're a great tire. Hope they safely perform in rain, snow, and wear well.

Love mine. Awesome in the snow! My only complaint is they seem to be on the noisy side.

2.5 inch lift, 285/75r16s, upgraded stereo system, Magnuson mp90 supercharger system.
I have them on now in 285/75r16 load range E. The truck is not my daily driver at this point so the cons for me are not as bad as they would be on a dd. I switched from bfg’s because of there poor performance in the snow. I expected some extra road noise because of the more aggressive tread pattern but overall Ive enjoyed them. Where they really shine is in the snow and shallow mud night and day difference between them and the BFG‘s. The next set will probably be Toyo at’s in 265 because my focus has shifted a bit more to the performance side but I have no real complaints for these tires just do a little research so your expectations are where they should be. These types of tires are ok at everything but not really great at anything.

    Minor stuff.
Going to resurrect this thread. Read through a few of the pages. Looking to pull the trigger on this tire on my 20 TRD Pro. Currently have the tires that came with the truck: Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar and got 92,000 miles out of them. They were good in the snow, trails in the Pine Barrens and were okay on the beach. Since last post was 2 years ago, was wondering if anyone has regrets on getting them. Thanks.

Zero regrets when they were on my SR5 and they will be going on my TRDOR. Used them in the snow, sand, and trails to get to mountain bike trails and camps. Hit a bit of flooded road in OBX at 35. Splashed on the windshield and couldn’t see, but not even a little hydroplaning. Judging by the wear they would have lasted me 60-70k miles.
