    @koditten

Stop telling people on here I act like a little girl because I was afraid to sweat the copper for my air drying loop:

    20230126_193929[1].jpg

Now, start telling them I am resourceful because I got a guy to sweat it for me for 3 cheap beers and a promise to cut out two sets of "NRA silhouette" competition size 22 cal targets. Took him longer to sweat the copper than it did me to find, import dxf, scale/arrange them. He even brought his own material. :)

I'm going to be lazy - where did you find the dxf files?

How is it you never learned to sweat copper pipe?

You seem rather skilled in many things.

I'll be more respectfully in future, ma'am. Thank you for calling me out.

That's what I thought might happen.

Google cloud files are weird like that.

I'll get on the computer later and go that route.

This probably won't work either. Oh, well. Gotta run.

I have sweated a little, but I just hate to fail at stuff and I thought as close together as some of the fittings were, I'd be boiling the solder out of one while I soldered another. I was also worried I'd melt any nylon in those gate valves.

    I didn't. I converted a file on Convertio.com

If you want the .dxf send me a PM with an email address. Can't upload that file type here.

Ordered myself the M-100 filter kit; consists of the M-60 assembly as well as 3 replacement filters.

Bought the much needed 1/2" NPT to 1/4" NPT adapters, my compressor fitting already had a coupler from a 1/4" NPT coupler attachment not to mention my plasma cutter uses a 1/4" NPT fitting in the rear.

The old Craftsman is getting tossed. The one on the far right is extra...might not even use it at all even though it's new.

Test run reveals not a single leak from the couplers and fittings.

Finding out just how stupid convenient having a CNC plasma setup is.

I didn't want to make a mounting bracket but 15 minutes later I made one.

    From table to vise.

Looking up close, dross is at a stupid minimum already. No clean up at all has been done.

Think it's a combination of the two new filters as well as running at 35 amps vs 33 amps.

Got the file from an uploaded share, but I modified it to not include the large square backplate.

The relief cuts made it easy to bend by hand on my Harbor Freight vise; it's only 1/8" thick steel.

This all came from a scrap piece I got from school last year.

    Here she is mounted.

    FUCKING MINT

My welder doesn't have a foot pedal so the ends are always difficult for me. I didn't even bother with it here. I only had it at 95amps for 1/8 steel.

    Any tips?

Tie in your ends...don't stop in the middle and just follow through all the way to the end.

You'll get better as you learn to pull you torch away from the metal; be better with a little filler as you'd typically stop feeding just before finishing.

Consistency with how much filler you are adding each step, how often, and how large each step is, will come with practice.

Limit how much motion you are putting in the puddle. Motion in the puddle, weaving, walking the cup, manipulation ... whatever you want to call it, less is better when you are learning.

Practice, practice, practice .... hood time is the only thing that makes you better.

My stainless was way better, but it took me a bit to get it dialed in and I didn't do much of it at my last job compared to MIG.
