Looks great dude! I'm stoked to see the progress you've made on this. Looking forward to seeing it on the trails.

I'll have to head up your way over the summer, I've got a work spot close to the UP in WI. I've done some mountain biking up that way but nothing to spicy in the truck.

Hell yeah! Let’s get together! Take the bike too. We have one of the best trail systems in the country and also ride.

Fully lowered. Got about 10” out of it. Could get more but this will more than suffice.

You're under-stating how difficult it can be to work with the HVAC vent plastic all manufacturers seem to use (especially when it gets old and heat cycles constantly for years) and my experience is for what should be simple disassembly and reassembly... I'm thinking tedious doesn't begin to cover what I can imagine it was like to heat "mold" that old material into place. A few brackets and open cell rubber spacers and it will match the outstanding results of everything else you've done in this build.

Your workmanship and attention to detail in every part of this build is over-the-top (meant in a Very complimentary way) freaking amazing!

Finished final welding last night, the fiancé and I worked all day sound deadening the roof and getting the cage back into place and burned in to the frame.

Set the truck at bump tonight to begin moving forward with the engine cage.

I need a breath of fresh air before continuing on with the remainder of the cab.

Looking so good. Without the fender you can really see how much that 37 sticks out and the room they need to clear everything.

Thank you! And yeah, they definitely have a ton of poke. +4” Helped in some areas and hurt in others. 37’s are pretty much as big as a person can reasonably go with these trucks. Any bigger and you’re going to be into the headlights and big time into the firewall.

Time for a little update! Wrapped up my engine cage last weekend, now on the back half. Hoping to have that done this weekend as well. Then I have a bunch of welding on both ends and some interior cage work to finish up. Then I plan to move on to some dimple died finishing plates along the pillars, a full assembly then blow it apart for paint.

This truck is freaking awesome. It looks just as professionally built as something straight from Toyota and badass as a full fledged baja racing trophy truck. I wish I had a smidgen of your talents.

I really wish I had the time money and space to do this to mine. There's a few times where it felt like the truck was gonna roll and it would've made me a whole lot less scared with a cage around me. Maybe one day I'll make enough to play. Current job I'm underutilized, and undervalued. I keep trying to apply up, but without a fancy degree I'm not even getting interviews. 8 years in the trade.

You may have already addressed this, but how/are you going to paint the cage?

Well, I already painted the top of the interior cage. Otherwise it’s going to be a solid day of masking then spray and pray. Definitely isn’t going to be a treat.

Get you a bunch of cardboard to slide behind it all and then mask everything else.
It's how I repainted my dust shields and hubs. I have a nice big sheet of cardboard that I cut a slot out of to wedge down behind the dust shields.
