Time to change the battery or just put a new one in, Chuck. They're relatively cheap.
I press the test button on mine, friggin' thing is loud.
Mine is AC powered, though. Good luck in your endeavor :)

Also, look on the back of the detector. There should be a manufacturer date. If more than 10 years old it should be replaced.

I still stick to the replace all the batteries annually mode of thought, even if they have an A/C supply. I'd buy a big pack of 9V's and replace them all. It could be that it's going off at night because the lower temp most people set at night causes a weak battery voltage to drop enough to set off the replace me chirp. I agree you shouldn't be on a ladder and if your brother is unable to get on a ladder to replace the batteries send me a DM and I'll come up to replace them for you.

I have used CA, for decades, to seal up cuts deep enough that they probably should have been sutured. My wife thinks I'm crazy. Stings a little at first, but works.

Thank God it didn’t. Of course she drove on it most of the way with the vibration. Her nickname is the red blurr as her car is red and it’s a blurr when she goes by. Forster XT turbo… Middle name must be Mario

its HEAVY. i wouldn't be able to do it if i waited for the end of the storm - gotta go out and shovel it while its still managable.
just went out again and did it. the plastic shovel was bending under the weight as i was trying to huck it into the yard.
kinda worried about the camper roof. i'll be out there tomorrow shoveling it off too.

It was SOP in the machine shops. Douse the cut with IPA or Acetone, the bleeding would stop long enough to squeeze off a few drops. Pinch it off until the glue kicked then get yer arse back to work. The bosses didn't want to see a band-aid, they were considered grounds to make an OSHA recordable incident.

I just purchased some long life 9 volt lithium batteries and will install them tomorrow . Yes mine are also hardwired

The house is only 13 months old I'd expect those detectors to be that same age

I went to my local Batteries plus bulbs store and got five ultralife lithium 10 year batteries . Thanks for the offer to help but my Neighbor is going to help me tomorrow

    Hey All,
Looks like everyone is trudging along just fine.
Just finishing my last day of quarantine after a positive test. Haven’t been to work and looking forward to October, 2027 more than ever.
Actually found a couple of interesting shows o watch on Netflix and sling. I was quite surprised to find anything good at all.

Brown-out, is that where your middle of the night fart turned into something more?

Being over 60, I never trust a fart anymore...day or night. :boink: What I was talking about is a voltage drop in the system, not a full power outage but enough to trigger electronic equipment.

My detectors aren't hard-wired but my microwave and alarm will chirp when we have a momentary power drop.

Nope no voltage drop. But this is the third time this has happened . The first time was back in January 2022 just a few weeks after moving into this new house

Happy friday evening everyone. I'm trying to be in a better mood but I gots to go in to work tomorrow because of a fucking asrehole of a plant manager that decided to make a change to a design that I already had modeled and drawings made up. The literal 1/8" of a move on a feature that he wants ( for aesthetics...) caused 5 hours of work today and I'm still not finished with it.

On a happy note- my new toy showed up on Wednesday. I'm itching to get back into the local scale comps with a 1/24 scale crawler.

I wish I had this when Clarence was still around, he would have loved to swat at it!
