Here's a pic I just took of mine from the back. I have stock TRD Pro wheels (7", 4.5" BS) with 1.25" spacers, which makes it an effective 3.25" BS. I plan to put 1.5" spacers to make sure my tires don't kiss the shocks, so I'll end up with an effective 3.0" BS

    Oh for sure.
Trying to decide between the Falken Wildpeaks or the Yokohama Geolandars. Based on Discount Tire comparison…both are just over 33”. Wildpeaks are 4 lbs lighter and $8 cheaper per tire. Not huge difference, but a difference. Also, taking into account people’s opinions and reviews.

Look-wise…I like the Geolandars a little more.

I can attest to the ability of the Geolandar in the mud. They bite better than my KM2s did and ride much smoother

I keep debating on going 285/75 16 but worried too much w MPGs.. . I don’t like the skinny look of the 255 and choice selections .. thinking of staying with a 265/75 but a more aggressive AT or go MT .. maybe KM3s, Duratracs or MT Baja Boss AT .. downfall they look a little small w the lift

    Wow this thread is awesome.

Literally all info I’ve been looking for during my search about whether or not I should switch from 265/75/16 to 255/85/16. Thanks too everyone who has contributed!

I’ve been running E rated 265/75/16’s for about 10K miles and I think this thread has sealed the deal on my decision to go up to 255/85/16.

My current tires look small on my truck, IMO, and since they’re already E rated
I suspect I’d probably get the same MPGs out of the 255’s. If not better since the 255’s are skinnier.

I’ve been hesitant since I would have to get a mud terrain tire because I want a true 33” and the Coopers are just under that. Seems like almost everyone who makes the switch to the 255’s loves them.

I’m in the same predicament really like the mickeys but have 16s and want to stay there. Thinking about 255/85/16. Wish there was more side to side comparisons though

I have the 265/75/16 Falken Wildpeak. They are great on a stock truck.

I can see the difference in size from 265-285, but it doesn’t look like much once on the truck

I just purchased 285/75/16 Yokohama Geolandar g003’s. I currently have 265/75/16 General Grabbers on the truck.

I thought taking this picture might be helpful to some people:

    Right: 285/75/16 Yokohama g003’s

Is cab mount an issue with the 255s on wheel pushed out - 12? Under 2 inch lift

This thread sealed the deal for me I think on 255/80/17. I was worried about having an E rated tire but I don't want to go to a 285 and all the rubbing issues. I know there may be some rub with 255 but not nearly as much. I will also be on OEM FJ Cruiser Rims with +15 offset (4.84 backspacing) and I will run a 3/4" spacer which gets me to like -4 offset.

I'm running 255's on a 0 offset 17"x 8.5" and I did have a very small amount of rubbing on the cab mount when test fitting and fully cycling suspension. I did the chop
