That is an EXCELLENT link. Thank you.
Future drains on the grid, especially in the lower mainland of BC, and other temperate regions in the US will also be affected by heat pumps/ air conditioners as temperatures increase and natural gas is more heavily taxed.
There is a very large dam (Site C) being built here now that will add or 5100 GWh annually to the grid.
One interesting note in the report talked about load forecasting. I think it will be interesting to see how this is addressed; there may be a window in urban areas that you are permitted to charge your vehicle.
When I lived in the UK, all our dish/clothes washers and dryers were set to run in the middle of the night, and this was back in the 90's.
    Exciting times ahead.

My state has already added an EV tax based on mileage. It amounts to 1 cent per mile for the first 8,000 miles driven. How that equates to missed gas taxes I don't know. My thought is if it's such a great idea why not implement it on all vehicles? It's like that idiotic backup beeper noise. Most cars are close to silent nowadays, why not make every car that is below some volume threshold beep in reverse. All I know is when I walk through parking lots the main thing keeping me from being run over is my eyes. A running engine, if you can even hear it, offers no clue as to the drivers intent.

We're all tappin' each other, except Texas.
From what I understand there are really only 3 grids in Canada and the US, but they are split; East, West...and Texas.
BC taps into the grid to buy power at off peak times, and sells power during peak times. I'm not sure if the province produces more than it uses. Hydro is one of the few power sources that can be turned off at, well, the turn of a (large) tap. If it is cheaper to buy from a plant in Alberta or Montana in the middle of the night, a provider will do so, and make money during periods of high demand.

Tesla's make a noise at low speed in both forward and reverse. It was a requirement of the manufacturer in order to protect the blind. It sounds like an alien craft

Well if there's a sound going forward I can't hear it, but going backwards the entire neighborhood knows I'm leaving. The point is my neighbor's BMW is just as quiet in reverse as the Tesla. I have no problem with warning the blind, but if it's good for the goose it's good for the gander.

The Tesla I drove, 2013 Model S, had a slight whine at start.

This is a handy map that breaks each state/province down by largest source of electricity production.

I'm happy to use my solar panels to charge my electric car. I'm also happy you can use gasoline or diesel to power your truck.

Many states have an extra tax on EVs to make up for the lost income from the road tax.

Some are looking into mileage based tax like yours.

I believe California is looking into using that same method for ALL vehicles.
