    Work in progress...
My wife always gets the fast cars. I think my 2011 Ford F150 FX4 with the 5.0 was quit a bit faster 0-98 but then the Ford would shut off around 98 or so. Other than that, this might be the fastest 4 wheel vehicle I've owned. My Cherokee with 2WD and 5 speed was probably the most fun to drive vehicle that I have owned. The Cherokee would be the one vehicle I would buy back for sure.

Found a deal on a stock airbox from CL today. Going to pick it up tomorrow. One aftermarket part taken care of. What's a fair price to sell a secondhand K&N cold air intake setup?

I have indeed spent time driving dump trucks. These were grain trucks, my favorite was a Kenworth T800 with a Cummins N14 red-top and a 10-speed manual. It wasn't 6x6, but the rear had full air lockers - both rear axles and the diff between them as well. In Washington if you're working for a farmer, no CDL is needed to drive on the highway so long as you're hauling agricultural commodities. In the field, no laws apply. This was in the Palouse region of Washington, which is geographically just a bunch of silt dunes that are great for growing wheat on. The farmer would tell me that I'd need to be going 50MPH at the crotch of the hill (dune) to make it over the top fully loaded (60k lbs gross) "OK boss!" The most fun job I've ever had by far.

OK ... I'm really confused. Why all the interest in the scooped hoods? I would have given anything with my previous Tacoma to NOT have the scoop but didn't even think of swapping it out! Now I have a new 2023 Lunar Rock inbound towards the end of February and am trying to figure out what I'm missing not wanting the scooped hood. Unfortunately a Sport was all I could get. Sadly I can't post in the above referenced Forum due to the 'new' account .. so I'm asking here. Thanks....

If you're like me, you'll understand that a non-functional hood scoop is silly. Apparently there's people on here who will pay a couple hunge to swap their non-scoop hood for one with a purely cosmetic scoop. I want the added practical visibility as well as the real-world invisibility of a boring pickup from a non-scooped hood, but I'll have to wait until my account is old enough to post in the classifieds.

Welcome…and agree on the scoop. Bought an off road specifically for that reason although the sport was probably a better fit for my actual driving needs. Scoop just turned me off a bit…

I like the 4Runner rims too. My snow tire setup. Mine is a manual too.

My taco is the fastest vehicle I’ve had too; albeit I think my 90’s Mitsubishi Mirage was also about 7-8s 0-60. There’s no way the mirage could tow my boat though.

I am tempted to tease my wife that her hood scoop on her Sport is kind of like a mullet compared to my sleek smooth OR hood.
I also want to see her nekkid once in a while...so....:lalala:.

    Congrats on your new truck.

FYI, Tacoma can tow on flat land... but good luck trying going up the steep hill..

I occasionally have to tow a ~3500 lb boat and trailer through the BC Rockies with a manual tranny, and it's not ideal, but it's not awful. First time I did a long-ish (400 km) trip I never went above 4th gear, and it burned a fair bit of fuel. Was confident enough to go into 5th and 6th on the next trip and it was fine...you do need to gear down on uphills for sure, but on the flat bits a higher elevations (>1200 m/4000 feet) it was OK.

Congrats and wise move on the MT, wish my sport was MT...... not a fan of the scoop myself for the way it catches the sunlight on my evening commute and blocks some forward visibility, but it has it charm from an aesthetic perspective.

:rofl:My first car was a 69 VW bug, my second car was a 74 Ford Pinto, that Pinto was a piece of crap! Got a 77 Toyota PU after that, thousand percent better than the Ford.

Today I went on a Craigslist adventure and picked up a stock grill from a '22, and a stock airbox assembly from a '17. Now it looks better and sounds like Toyota intended... I also live in a dusty place, so that K&N cone filter had me worried anyway.

Next I want to remove the spacer lift that's on it. Will I have problems with 285/70R17 tires at stock ride height? I'm seeing conflicting information out there.

I wouldn't do it, it will fit but its not practical. Running a slightly larger tire on mine which sits a hair higher and turning either direction compressing the suspension with a 32" tire slightly rubs the fender wall. You'll be fine going straight with more frequent trips for gas.
