kidding really, I was curious because I’ve scrolled Instagram comments and people call him burrows thinking it’s funny to mess his name up and I just don’t get it. Adding an S is funny? I guess..

 

That's the beauty of the two games...it could have gone either way.

There were two different coaches for Cincy:

Forrest Gregg (1981)
Sam Wyche (1988)

Niners jumped out to a big lead against Forrest Gregg--Cincy had an unsuccessful 4th & Goal that's been disected in NFL Films. Cincy came back in the second half with a vengeance on Defense. Niners scored one more time to put the game out of reach.

Against Sam Wyche, Joe Montana orchestrated the 90 yard drive to win the game.

I've watched NFL Films on DVD quite a bit.

 

I think it just flowed in my head that way. I'll fix it! lol

 

Bengals defense (under Sam Wyche) had the 49ers locked down. Safety Tim Krumrie was denying Rice every opportunity…up until that broken ankle.

Joe’s Hail Mary pass to Rice won them that game. No Krumrie, no Bengals win.

This Bengals team is far deeper than that one.

 

Times have definitely changed since those Bill Walsh days. Bill produced many future head coaches who were very successful.

 

America’s Game of the Week is about 4:27 tomorrow, when Dallas fans load up the VCR with their last Super Bowl highlights.

 

As a Niner fan I was implored to laugh before quickly being humbled by the fact that our drought is 1 year longer than theirs

And also true but honestly does it really mean much without a title to show for it? I’ll take those small victories tho.

 

There’s only been 56 Super Bowls, there are 32 teams now and 12 haven’t won any. And 5 won just 1. So you have 15 teams that won the other 51. Half the teams account for 90% of the rings. If you are a fan of one of those 15 teams, you can just shut the hell up with your whining

I saw that highlight last week/some time recently.

These two guys know each other by one game. That's a great fun fact.

 

Uh, Tim Krumrie was the nose tackle and went out the second play of the second series(broken ankle). Steve Wallace was the niners starting left tackle and was lost the 4th play of the first series(broken ankle) and replaced by rookie Bubba Paris which immediately led to a sack on Montana. It wasn’t a Hail Mary to Rice but a sustained 2 minute drive leading to a 10 yd slant to Taylor. Wyche himself admitted later that early in the drive he had an “oh shit, he’s going to do it again” referring to Joe(Wyche had been the 49ers QB/receivers coach for the first SB contest) . The game can be watched on YouTube as can the other Niner SB wins and losses.
