Well this is a friend's Tacoma.......he has a place in Costa Rica. He had a shop down there build this for him so he could get to the back county places to surf. It really a bad ass machine. What do ya'll think? I've estimated about a shit ton of money in aftermarket parts and accessories. It really is a complete rig. The shop told him they would truly build him a truck that could almost go anywhere after he got stuck several times in a slightly modified Tacoma. IMG_3954.jpg

I posted in the for sale thread but just incase someone in here isn’t watching that.

If anyone knows of anyone looking to sell a GX470 with gray interior can they let me know please. Or other SUVs (Toyota/Lexus) with a 3rd row please let me know thank you. I am not looking for anything beat. This will be a daily for the wife. Thanks for your help. I am also looking everywhere on Facebook and some dealers, but dealers want about 5k on top of what the vehicles are worth generally. Thank you for your time. Picture of my truck just because.

This is kind of a odd question but how often so you guys actually hit your transfer case skid plate? I'm thinking about ordering the ironman skid plate set because it's a really good deal right now. The problem is the plate stops at the crossover pipe of the exhaust. So I'm trying to decide if I even really need the trasnfer plate skid. I haven't damaged anything there yet but my stock engine plate has a good bit of damage and I have got gouges in my driveshaft so I have done some scrapping on rocks. Also I was thinking if I go this route I couple probably diy a trans skid down the road. So I just wanted you guys thoughts. This is the best photo I've found of where the skid plates stop. And a link for reference. https://ironman4x4america.com/heavy-duty-skid-plate-kit-suited-for-2005-toyota-tacoma/

my skids are all BEAT and bent. If you are in the rocks a lot it’s better to be fully protected in my opinion.

Just ordered another set from Bud at Budbuilt. These things are sick!

Reminds me of the skids I had on my FJ80 from IronPig.

Also another truck I wish I kept. It was a beast of a DD and wheeler. I will say to all, don’t do the 2wd mod on those, if F’s up the way the truck handles thru turns…and once you do it, there is no way to undo without a new Tcase.

It really depends on your wheeling style. I had steel skids and they looked new after a few years. I went through a trying to reduce daily weight and sold the steel to get aluminum skids. They still look great after 2 years.

Cory competes in the red clay rally. I mostly drive forest service roads and go camping/hunting. Our use case is not the same, so our needs are entirely different.

I feel I don't need the most protection. I feel hurricane creek is the most difficult spot I'll go to. I've been up in Kentucky on the rocks. I was a check point guy for the red clay rally. I was looking at going aluminum with this brand. It's just the iron man is a good deal. https://backwoodsadventuremods.com/...BBjOpGPDkdgFeLgkcCqIQsjpMeZKGCEkaAh-mEALw_wcB

That's pretty much the same boat that I'm in. You'll be fine either way you go.
