Help with 4x4 bucking

hey everyone i was just out driving around in the snow today (while shooting skeet) and while driving back i was in 4 LO ( 6 speed) the truck bucking horrible, the rpms were up about 2rpm crawling and the whole powertrain was jumping, i was watching the shifter jumping all over the place. the truck has1500 miles on it. wear and tear is not an option i could make it up this hill in fear i was going to break her!!! any help would be great. i hope this is not a taste for things to come for off roading

 

bump nobody? it felt likei was trying to peelout on dry pavement in 4x4 i think imgonna slide under their tomarrow and have a look see at my motor/tranny mounts

 

Maybe in the spot you were in there was more traction then you thought?

 

Yea my truck does that to. I think it has to do with traction control options as well but Im not sure.

 

i had to put in hi 4x4 to make it up this 3 degree slop time for some super swampers lol. i dont know just wanted to make sure i wasnt breaking anything (i hate traction control)

Were you slipping and did the traction light came on the dash?

 

specs: 2011 access cab 4x4 trd o/r 6 speed, the snow was extreamly wet and packy, i believe i had slight tire spin, not enough to throw snow. i just dont like the unbelievable bucking and chucking that i ws experiancing

talking about 4 lo...I have the same truck a '11 access cab, and a after few miles of loose gravel up a mountain road, I had to use 4 low to unload at a remote shack...

however, when I put it into back 4 hi, it wanted to stick in 4 lo and beep at me. The problem only cleared when I turned the engine off, then back on.

Any ideas?

 

put it in neutral before switching to 4hi

 

Ah, I just stopped and put the clutch in...the way I have been doing it for 30 years...

Then again, my Power Wagon has four levers, gear box, parking brake, Hi-lo and 2-n-4...

whats atrac's purpose? i have automatic limited slip, traction control, and a locker what other traction aids dose toyota have to offer me

Keep it out of 4lo in the snow. Use 4hi.

 

The bucking is normal for being in 4Lo! Unless you are going SUPER slow. Autos don't do this because they disengage when taking your foot of the gas then they control them selfs for the smoothness. This is not a traction issue. Its because you are too jerky on the throttle. It take a shit ton of finess to be smooth in 4Lo and 1st. Try 2nd it won't be as jerky.
