Know anything about just drop in springs on these? I've seen basically three variations on front fork fixes: Progressive's cartridges, Ohlins cartridges, or various drop in springs with stiffer rates. I'm not loving the idea of torching off the foot of the stanchion to do cartridges and $115 for a new set of springs isn't bad. https://www.steadygarage.com/collec...-honda-grom-monkey-125?variant=40824124506171 . I think cartridges are $200 for progressive and $300 for ohlins (which is also wildly cheap for ohlins at the same time haha)

Heard that stiffer springs is an improvement but you should really go with the ohlin kit or the racing bros kit. I am leaning towards the racing bros for when I have extra money to throw at it. https://www.steadygarage.com/collec...a-grom-monkey-125?_pos=2&_fid=6c2f11939&_ss=c

I think folks are telling you to reach out to me, see avatar pic.

I still own the Buell in my pic, bought it new way back in 1995. Worked for the dealership that sold it to me for several years. I have a decent collection of Buell memorabilia and some parts manuals. What year is that one? Most maintenance items are still around but you might have to buy them online and pay some shipping. I was fortunate enough to be involved with them during their production years arid rode just about everything they offered up until the Rotax powered stuff near the end.

That’s a really cool bike! Mines a 2008 with about 10k miles. It seems pretty sound mechanically but I’m not sure if there are any parts known to fail that I should maybe source. I was told it has a spec ops muffler (I’m not sure what that is) but would like it to be quieter, is the factory muffler the quietest? Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment on my bike! I still enjoy it though at my current age I don't find it as comfortable as I did 28 years ago!

Spec Ops was a small manufacturer who made mufflers for certain Buells. They tend to be a bit.....obnoxious? Stok will be the quietest but you need to find one. Sadly, a lot of folks either threw that stuff away or failed to turn it over with the bike when they sold or traded it in. If the muffler has a bolted on or even riveted on end cap you can take the muffler off and repack it to quiet it down some. That V-twin though will blow the packing material out fairly regularly. On the later bikes like yours the wheel bearings were known to fail prematurely. Nice thing is they should be able to match them up at any competent bearing supply house, you don't need OEM parts for that.

Buell, like Harley Davidson, is a bit of a paint shaker so get used to checking fasteners and having to tighten them. Blue Loctite is your friend. If you have any questions or just need help in general, reach out and I'll do what I can to at least point you in the right directions.

Took full advantage of the warmer than normal temps today and went mural hunting. Left around 12:30 and got home about 5 covering 130ish miles and locating quite a few murals for the Grand Tour I'm in.

Since starting on January 2, I've already visited 68 murals. Have ridden over 800 miles already this month.

I'm still at 4 :anonymous: But it did snow here today, so I have that excuse haha. The sun came out around 1 and melted everything pretty quick so I took the Grom out for 8 and a half miles around town. What a hoot. Going to take a bit to get used to the feel of the engine, I was always way higher in the rev range than I thought I was. Kind of wild the amount of tech they have in a bike this cheap. Avg speed, consumption, and total amount of gas on each trip meter, a shift light, a gear position indicator, all were a surprise to see.

Ordered a few things last night to go on it: complete set of new plastics, a protaper klx110 bar, grips, a set of front fork springs (couldn't justify the full jump to cartridges yet..), supplies for an oil change, and a few factory decals to go on the new plastics. I went with their metallic grey color and think think with the gold it'll really pop.

These are a riot to ride, so much fun, be safe as its easy to wheelie the hell out of and slide around after you remote the traction options.

Nice! I have a 2009 M1100 with a full termi exhaust (baffles removed). It is LOUD. Overall, the Monster is a pretty reliable, easy to maintain bike. The timing belts are the only maintenance part that are worth doing at the dealer.

Rode the little 390 ktm to my buddys and he started his harley 1200 up and forced me to ride it for a few miles. No front brakes, straight pipes; it was an experience i enjoyed. I'm certain his neighbors hate him. Never ridden the 1200, think it was a 2014 model conversion with the custom paint, felt like a nice cruiser in 45 degree weather.

Took full advantage of yet another above normal temp day and went for a ride. I saw on the local weather last night that this January is likely going in the record books as the second warmest in recorded history. I knew where a few murals were that I'd missed and found a couple more I was not aware of.

Saw this one about 2 weeks ago and just didn't have time to stop. Got it today.

Didn't know this one was there. Enroute to the next one, caught at a traffic light I spotted it.

These last 2 I knew about but last time in York just ran out of time so I had to go back.

Stumbled across this one on a previous trip. Remembered the location so I could get it later.

Rode past this on my way home but turned around so I don't have to go back that way again.

Was on my way home and a road sign kind of jarred my memory and I recalled seeing this barn a few times in the past.

I've ridden over 900 miles in January and already found 75 murals.
