Take a pic of the remote you have, even the factory remotes/systems were an aftermarket thing made for Toyota by other manufacturers until like 2005. I have unfortunately had to research them a lot

So you'll never believe this but I actually have a spare one of those in my nightstand. The Land Cruiser takes the black case version of that and I had a hell of a time finding one and a guy sold me a gray case version which is incompatible frequency wise with my cruiser. But I still have the gray case one cuz he's told me not to send back. It's yours if you want it

One problem is if I'm going to hunt a well cared for, low mile 3rd gen Runner is that I also now know they had an imperial jade version and I have to push that to the back of my mind and not try and find a driveway match for my 1st gen

Guy across the street from me drives one of those. Limited, with the contrasting trim. Like this (not his actual truck).

Only available in Black or Jade Mica, it's monochromatic, and has the awesome skewp hood.

It's a 1999-00 model only so you can look for one in a manual and with a rear diff locker. This specific model also sits a bit higher than other 3rd Gen 4R's as the coils used have a different part number.
