goddamn I didn't seal this third well on the Tacoma and it's dripping. Maybe I should just take the elocker apart and weld it together since the third has to come out eventually :luvya:

Didn't Ford do this stock on a model and it rips the bedsides. I'd probably tie to more than just those tracks

Yeah I don't know how strong those are, even then it's a composite bed so can't be super strong.

I suggested to him that the tire holder just hold it against the rear of the bed and not actually 'float' the tire. Tire will be sitting on the actual bed.

Yeah if you give the mount some vertical adjustment to assure the weight is always on the floor that's probably better

Yep, my only gripe is being unsure how wide the slots should be for the bolt to run through.

His idea was to simply drill holes in the 4" by 12" plate he's providing. I told him I'd rather draw it up and cut a rear plate out myself with 4 slots to allow for a long range of adjustment.

With enough zip ties, anything can be fixed

I've seen rail mounts like the Wilco and that shoe one, always seemed like a good way to rip the that tracking out or deform it? :notsure:
The race style makes more sense, spendy but:

yeahhh i couldn't get into the inner fender support without cutting. I'm trying to decide if I'm gonna build a new mount and put it back in this spot

It was mounted to the side and bottom of the inner fender and pulled the side apart. It's a lot of vibrating mass to put on the inner fender and the core support is cracked on both sides so that probably doesn't help lmao

That tire holder just consists of a few panels that get welded together. I can draw that up.

But I don't think he wanted the tire mounted that way, nor drilling holes through the floor.

My core support hasn't cracked yet but I know it's a matter of time so I'm getting the battery out of the engine bay.

@Kwikvette I've got two out of the three, I'm still missing the one that's actually in my color.

Use the existing bed bolt hole and maybe make the back of the mount tall to attach to the rail?
