What would pros do if money was not a constraint, Jenn Air double oven, pretty much the only thing we are keeping from this kitchen, works well, looks fine. 8/3 or 6/3? I suppose I should look up the amperage from the model number? But say you are planning a future proof double oven cabinet spot, plan for 50 amp w the wire spec or is 40 already overkill?

 

I don’t even remember but the VFD was as at least 12’ wide, 24” deep and 7’ tall. There was 3 or 4 on that facility, with a 50+ week lead time on any of the parts (motor, VFD, pump) there wasn’t much room for error on the startup sequence.

It’s funny how you grow used to things. The 700hp 480v motor was my first encounter of a machine above 500hp. Now I regularly deal with generators that produce 250Amps at 4160v and it seems a lot scarier than 800amps at 480v but at the time the 700hp motors were crazy to fathom, there’s always an opportunity to outdo what you’ve seen before!

I’m currently working on a project that has two new switchgear that have a 60 week lead time and we have to temp in a temp generator just to have working lights and HVAC for a 25,000sqft expansion. These are 4000a @480v feeders… fun stuff.

 

Amazon had it way cheaper than either blue or orange stores in my area.

Finally getting around to priming and paint the master bedroom, which is my secret lair, so you don't get any more pics than that

Been having a helluva time with primers. Been using Zinnser oil base, which works great, but smells horrible. Started out this project with Kilz Odorless oil base which while it seemed to be thick enough, but splattered everywhere on my initial test. Went to Home Depot and picked up some Kilz 3 (formerly "Premium") latex base. While I knew it had some nicotine/tar build-up, I didn't think it was that bad. Wrong. It bled through the K3 almost instantly... So, back to the Kilz Odorless oil base, as the last time I used the Zinnser in the house I got a sinus infection... Covered as much as I can in the room and cleaned any splatters with Acetone. Took care of the splatters really easy. As far as the odorless part, well they were wrong. Unfortunately it seems to be the only thing to kill the massive nicotine built up since 1965...

 

Bedroom looks pretty bright for a sex dungeon.

 

A double wall mounted oven and a gas range is a Chef's dream.

I would think 6/3 on a 40amp should be fine for most. It really depends on the appliance. How old is the Jenn Air?

I'm surprised I've let it go this long. I've owned this house a year now and just now getting around to painting the bedroom. Although I needed to get the carport enclosed and all other outside projects done first. Not to mention all the vehicle shenanigans...

 

I've lived here almost 30 years and haven't painted jack...

 

Well, you probably don't have 58 years of nicotine buildup on your walls.


But, a couple 5 gallons of an off white paint would probably do your house some good

I hate painting, I hate painting even more in any room that isn't completely empty.

 

I hate painting so much I used to do it on the side to make some extra cash on the side when I lived down South.

Now I have a career that I don't need to do that side work and I'm seriously out of practice

 

I'm a poor painter on my best day, I use a lot of blue tape and make a lot of messes.

The kid who worked for me did painting on the side, it was amazing how fast and efficient he was, he made it look smooth & easy.

 

Go with 6/3 and you're good to 50 amps. The cheap ass contractor that built the house goes with 8/3 and 40 amps on the houses built with electric stoves. I haven't purchased my new stove yet, but the one I want requires 50 amps. Fortunately for my wallet I only had them install gas to my stove. I put in the 6/3 myself.

The labor is the same for 8/3 or 6/3 and the cost difference is $35. Future you will thank you for installing 6/3 now

So went today to stage everything, remove cabinets from boxes, check for damage, remove doors, drawers, etc. Customer replaced dishwasher with cabinet, so those long shims should be good to go now. But, I checked the walls for square using the 3/4/5 method. That long wall is 1" out of square at the 4' mark (5' 1") and gets worse. The last cabinet would be over 2" off the wall if I run those cabinets straight. Probably 93-94 degrees.

Any tips on something so out of square? I'm thinking of hugging that wall and then just adjusting the one cabinet to the left of the corner cabinet. If that's off the wall some, the range/stove will hide it. Countertop folks are gonna have a challenge.
