@nudavinci64 I had mine engraved with the stock numbers and ended up sanding it a bit to make it look worn/used. Mine is shiny in the bay. If you didn't get the smog notice paper, how'd you figure going in? The star cert test is random and usually assigned by the DMV

The URD adapter clocks the TB about 15deg off center. Visually, you see the black adapter plate and a TB thats crooked. Its noticeable that its not stock to a keen eyed tech.

@nudavinci64 I would put the throttle body back to stock, and I doubt they are gonna care about sais being moved as long as it’s there. They are not going to dyno your truck. I have gone to a star certified smog place before for my work truck, they didn’t do much extra than a normal smog shop does, he may have looked a little more around the engine bay but he smogged it in about 10 minutes which is pretty typical in my experience when getting smog done. Might take a little longer depending on how many carb stickers you have that they have to look up. Bottom line is don’t have anything that screams modified with out having a sticker to back it up and you will be fine for visual. Now if you were going to state referee then yea it’s gonna need to be fully legit because they will spend hours going through your car if they have to. As far as I know, most smog shops don’t have the system yet to verify the checksum on the ecu. If you can it probably would be best to put the stock trd tune back on if you want to be safe. I risked it with my smog because I didn’t want to swap my fuel injectors out and everything was good.

I'm so glad I live in the Texas of Canada. But our federal government is doing everything they can to destroy the oil industry here... they actually recommended that we take different "greener" jobs in preparation for their new policies coming into effect. If we see the liberal/extremely liberal parties get elected a couple more times (which I'm sure we will) then I'll be jumping ship to some non-oil related job.

I'm sure they'll try to make IC illegal within 20 years. Hopefully my truck will still be OK as a classic car by then, or at least for track use only.

I'm not sure if texas would be a good comparison. It's getting lame here too, at least visual is coming to sa but I think some cities in tx are doing sniffer. I'm not sure which states self inspect for registration but those would be the ones. Might even be the same where they don't have sales tax and registration for a Bugatti is the same as some clapped out gti.

Wow. That surprises me. Maybe the municipal governments have more power down there.

Does anyone know of a smooth flow pulley that would fit on a pulley boys hub or any good options to fill in the engraving? I tried to order from PBs and they only have engraved ones and wouldn't be getting any until they made a new batch which is likely not happening anytime soon.

Yeah that's the same boat with me. I do not want to swap my injectors out, and I have carb EO for the S/C and intake. As far as I am aware the coil packs don't matter so I would just need to swap the pulley and TB. Not a big deal there but seems I can't get a pulley from PBs without engraving on it. I was hoping not but I may just have to bite the bullet and pull mine off and put on the smoothflow setup.

@jamesepoop I recall you doing that and may do the same.

One of the reasons I have bought property in the country. Most only care if they the tires have air. Cities are much tougher and for good reason but here there are many cars that are driven on the road that shouldn't be and not for emissions reasons. Surprisingly I have had good luck with my Tacoma Plus it has that high flow epa cert cat so should be good as long as there's no obd test.

I had a 2.8 pulleyboys pulley and i sanded their logo off of it. If i was in cali i'd probably run the URD stealth pulley

Perfect, at least I know that works for an option.

Great, I was wondering how it would work if I tried to sand it off. I do not think it will be an issue as long as I can remove the engraving. I was thinking of stamping it as @jamesepoop did as well. Did you do it by hand or require more power to get it off? I will prob go this route.

The URD one I considered but I planned to step my pulley down again and quick-change was great for that, especially after all the painfulness I had getting this sucker one in the first place.

I am pretty sure I used a dremel and a sanding bit attachment. The pulley boys logo is deeper in there than you might think, i remember it taking a while to remove it all. Should blend in okay if you paint it black. I would probably try to take that risk, since as you say, it’s way more convenient to change it out with the hub on there
