Ive tried searching but couldnt find the answer. The last owner of my truck put a weird clear film up front to protect from UV or something. I want to put 20% on but i need to take this off first. What would be the best method of removing it?

    thanks in advance...

The last time I had tint removed from a window the guy used a heat gun carefully and a razor blade scraper.

Get a trash bag and try to find some glass cleaner with ammonia in it. spray the window really good with the cleaner and then stick the trash bag to it.. let it sit in the sun or use a heat gun for 20 minutes.. the tint should come off with the glue quite easy after that. If you have rear defrost look out cause a razor will mess it all up..

Previous owner of my truck put tint on that looked DIY and did a crap job of it. I also couldn't pass a state safety inspection without removing it or paying extra for someone to "overlook" it. Took it off with a razor blade but it left A LOT of sticky shit that I ended up cleaning off with a combination of goo gone and wd-40, elbow grease, rags and more razor usage. Major pain in the ass because the film coming off totally separated from the sticky junk that held it there.

After reading these responses maybe a heat gun would have been a good idea. Or maybe a hair dryer since I don't have a heat gun anymore hah. Either way I got it totally clean, just took a couple hours.

35% is legally the darkest you can go on your side windows. nothing on windshield is legal, rear windows i think depends on type of automobile. you need an annual safety inspection which is usually $15. $5 more if you have tint and they need to get out their meter to stick on your windows. some places will pass you if you had your tint installed at a real shop that gave you paperwork for it so it doesn't need testing.

there are tons of people that have darker tint that i see driving around. i was never into it so i haven't bothered finding out how they get away with it. the cops here don't pull over people for tint regularly here like they did when i lived in LA though so its just a matter of passing the joke of a safety check.
