It is the outcome that should have happened in the first place. Instead of the secretary gamic. :annoyed:

I'd take advantage of the upgrade to the sport-type hood for sure!

Another update. Got a call today that Toyota approved a full replacement. So tomorrow the shop is calling me to schedule it. And I do get to put the scoop hood and just have to pay for the trim. So if any of you guys experience something similar, there is a chance you can have it covered. And I am super satisfied that Toyota is doing this for me.

That is just outstanding news. Totally unexpected, but outstanding! Congrats on the upgraded hood!

Thanks. I'm surprised a bit too. It went from looking like I might be out of luck to at least a discounted hood, to a full replacement. I started to get anxious since I didn't hear anything for a couple weeks. But anyways, I just wanted to update in case anyone searches this and is looking for answers. Thanks again for the help, everyone.

Great to hear! Glad Toyota is covering this for you along with the upgraded hood. Now if they would just cover the Super White paint peel on some of those 3rd Gen’s.

    Thanks.

And ya, I wasn't sure the status on the white trucks. It's funny because when I first called my dealer about my issue, the first thing they asked is "is the truck white?" So apparently they have seen their fair share of issues from white machines. I actually saw a post on a Facebook group last night where the white paint was coming off along the doors, by the windows, on a 3rd gen. That's rough. Hopefully those people get taken care of.

Nice! Maybe Toyota isn't the vile, evil corporation everyone makes them out to be

I have exactly the same issue with my 2020 TRD. The same location.the same bubbles. My hood wasn’t repainted. In my opinion it is related to manufacturing process. Most likely one corner was not submerged in cataforetic painting (E-coat)

Well, I got a new hood so you should too. I explained in a previous post what my observation was (pooling water) as the cause.

Did you get your new hood with scoop?
I need to submit claim for my hood as well. It is driver side in my case.

That looks like rust. Something in the photo suggests bondo in that area? Take it to the Toyota dealer and have it looked at. Are you original owner?

Hey sorry, I didn't realize there were any new replies to the thread. Yes, I got a new hood from Toyota. And I asked for a scoop hood, which they said yes if I pay for the extra trim parts. So if you have the right dealer, they should work with you on this.

Salty water getting into the hood seams and rusting under the paint. I doubt it's been repainted, it's a pretty common rust issue in the great white salt north. It's why I hate driving ANYTHING in the winter up here. Salt and water are an insidious thing when paired together.
