I have air bags (og rubber bump stop cut flush). Looking to remove and install sumos (cut down to create a 1/2" gap) as the air bags don't allow any clearance with stock leaf spring height. Anyone ever attach a bump stop to the plate welded to the frame above the actual bump stop? Theoretically its the same path of travel...

Isn't that where the sumos attach? to that upper area of the frame? What do you mean the airbags don't allow any clearance exactly? I have them on my 98 (firestone ride rights) and it was fairly easy getting them on there.

The ride rites are where fine to install but touching 100% of the time (I have the register puck at the bottom for full articulation so the bottom can lift off the axle). Being in the city w/ pot holes, it's a horrible ride (even w/ plenty of weight).

The sumos are suppose to attach under the U-bolts where the old bump stop is. Ive yet to see it bolted to the top plate.

I gotcha. I run 5 psi with my topper on and the ride rites seem to make it handle even better. I also carry a motorcycle on the back hitch so they help tremendously with that.

Do you find that it rides rough at all? Curious if my cradle is causing to much upward pressure on the bottom if the air bag making the whole setup less cushiony

It will ride rough if I have more than 5 psi unloaded I suppose. Not that bad as I have a broken leaf in one of my packs right now. Waiting on some OME to get here to replace my worn out ones. I will still use the airbags as I will need them to haul a motorcycle. Have a picture of how you mounted them?

I have about a 2" lift on my pickup. I also ordered some spacers that firestone said I would need based on my lift. I ended up taking the 1- 1/4" spacer out because with the spacer it was jacked way up and rode worse with the spacer in there.

Hmm, I may take the cradle out and see if that helps since I am running 4600 on stock style springs...
