The Kenwood was like $600 and everything else (maestro, other plugs, and dash kit) was like $300.

There’s certainly cheaper head units and more expensive ones as well. So you can definitely do a very budget friendly option or the sky is the limit with how expensive you wanna go. But for roughly $900 I am super happy with the purchase.

Lol I and the previous owner did / do preventative maint. Why replace a water pump or thermostat that hasn't given a single sign of trouble, Why change the coolant when it still tests fine and is as clean and pink/red as new?

Im a big fan of the Sony xav head units. Their sound adjustment and amp output is great for a head unit.

Changed the engine oil on the truck today only to see some glitter in my drain pan. 65k on the engine ffs (at 5k oil change intervals).
Now I swear I'm hearing a feint knock at idle :censored:.

Is it coolant mixing or the metal shard that concerns you

Sorry, should've been more specific. The oil had some metal shavings in it, still annoying and maybe a bit more of a pain to repair.

Its some metal, the picture ain't that great now that I really look at it. There was a decent amount of bronze glitter at the bottom of the pan, although I did take the oil filter apart and couldn't see any big chunks in there.
In this pic you can see some bronze colored flakes.

Bronze or brass color shavings are generally bearing related. Minor specks would not seem to be major but would be a sign of wear. Dropping the pan and investigating with a good light is the only way to know for sure. If a bearing is going out there would be evidence surrounding the bad one. Best case is a rod bearing that is not too intrusive. Worst case would be a main bearing requiring more work. Oil looks clean so you apparently have kept up with oil changes. Iron shavings would be pre-catastrophic warnings. Dumb question but have you done a transmission fluid change in that same drain pan. Transmission fluid is normal with bearing/clutch residue in it.

That's what I'm thinking, I'm just dumbfounded that it happened at 65k miles with oil changes at every 5k. I'll have figure out a good time to drop the pan on the truck to check what's the damage. I have done the transmission/diff fluid change about 15k miles ago so the glitter ain't from there. That pan is used pretty heavily at work (motorcycle shop) but I made sure to check for any foreign debris before using it.
