Which head unit mount is that? Looks clean and nowhere near as recessed as the one I currently have…

65k is way too early for a Toyota bearing failure. Has it ever overheated, like a head gasket, where coolant reached the oil pan. If the bearings were ever coolant washed that could cause similar premature wear issues.

Nope, no overheating issues, nor did have I seen any signs of coolant in the oil or any other headgasket symptoms. Oil pressure seems ok too (based off the dash light at least), honestly I'm scratching my head thinking why it occurred this early.

My Alpine setup with the iDataLink Maestro and all the adapters and everything cost me 1600 CAD. That's about 1200USD. Alpine prices themselves a little bit above Pioneer and Kenwood usually, but I've always been impressed with their quality.

The only one that I noticed that doesn't work is the fuel %. I haven't tried all of them yet though.

The dash kit is made by Scosche. Very nice quality!

Rear bumper fully installed. Got swing outs on and everything is working great. Just have to finish my jerry can basket and Maxtrax mounts. I love the way the tuck looks now. Plus the ride is a lot smoother with the extra weight. I have some new OME rear shocks coming and the extra leafs to conver the leaf pack from medium to heavy duty.

Test fit complete. It fits but will move to center of the bench.

I do need to move all of my gear from under and behind the seats now. What’s everyone’s favorite bin to use?

@hotwheelsguy I would clean the pan with brake clean or something and change your oil again to see if you actually have specks, or was it in the pan and you just didnt notice...Im like you, very suspicious, that early in a motors life to have a bearing starting to fail. Do the easiest to the hardest starting with another oil change after you drive it some.

Took it to a mechanic friend of mine so he can listen to the engine and he couldn't hear any knocking; told me not to worry to much about it (not gonna change me being paranoid about it though:boom:).
Already planning on doing another oil change around 2k-2.5k miles with either a new pan or after I clean heck out of that one.
I'll probably post back here once I do that and what I see in the oil then.

Not saying this could be your problem. But I remember not too long ago a guy had the same problem. He tore the whole motor down and never found the problem. Turns out it was his cats coming apart and the powder was making its way back into the engine.

Not much but I wired in two usb ports to constant power last night. A simple fuse tap into the acc 12v fuse under the dash and a little trimming for the one under the vent.

@hotwheelsguy For peace of mind, you could always send an oil sample in and see what they see on the spectronometer..Assuage all fears..

How difficult was it? I have a remote start kit that’s been sitting on the shelf taunting me but sure would be nice with the -30 windchill coming this weekend lol

Rotated tires left to right. Last time I only rotated front to back. My alignment is off a bit so they were cupping a bit. Turning em around to the smoother side cut the road noise and vibrations in half lol. Easy win imo

I remember reading that thread, his was a V6 right? The cats on the 4 banger are a bit further back.
I do have a non-oem cat on the truck after the oem one got stolen, would be interesting if what’s in the oil were parts of it. I would think a oil test should catch that right? Planning on getting one done here shortly.

Good idea, totally forgot about that. I’m gonna request a kit from blackstone later today.

Oh, I missed that yours was a 4 banger. A oil test should def catch that. Last I checked Blackstone was around $30 per test. They will send you 3 test kits and you only pay once you send them back. Would be easy to do and probably quite helpful.

We used the same car seat. If you keep it on the pass side like you have it, you can still access the driver's side under-seat storage.... until #2 comes along.

But to answer your question, I moved my stuff into a soft rifle bag (here) that I keep in the bed under the tonneau.
