I think the Lexus version of the 3.5 has a metal crossover pipe, recall seeing a Thread on here where someone was looking into adapting it to the Tacoma.

If it's made to withstand corrosion, it may work for us too. But knowing Lexus pricing, it'll probably cost an arm, leg & a tooth

    Yesssir all we can do.

*To anyone that has fixed this issue, is this a re-occurring thing we have to look out for in the future?

Wondering if toyota has released anything ad far as a follow up?

Id check back there if you can.. if theres a way you can be reimbursed like others have by starting a case w toyota. I’d go that route.

Im screwed. Had to pay out of pocket but that’s what savings & emergency cc are for lol.

From the discussion on the last couple pages and with the updated part number, we just don't see posts about this on 2018s and newer. It is likely that the updated part solves it. There's a lot of reinforced plastic on our Tacos and many other vehicles that lasts the life of them. I'm pretty confident with that recent history.

Hahaha! It is not likely that folks will tell us what is working. We'll just have to pay attention to their absence. :D

When I am tuning folks, I do offer to inspect the crossover pipes. It is a very small sample size, but a couple 2018+ have asked me to take a look. Similar to my own Taco, no issues.

What amazes me is that I know on Camrys years ago they were replacing dashboards for free if yours became sticky up to 10 years, quite an expense, but won't cover a problem area like this for people.

This is no doubt an part that was improperly designed and made in earlier years that was corrected (maybe).

Update: So Im never one to really complain at the dealer, since they failed to tell me the part was in prior to dropping the vehicle off. They had to keep my truck one extra day.

I politely went back and forth w the tech advisor, basically told him I didnt want to go over his position and talk to a higher up. I mentioned at my job if I was to pencil whip anything ie: drugs, gear, etc. people could die.

(Ended up getting a free oil change, atf, & coolant flush lol)

Tried to take a photo of the replacement part. I’ll do it again this week when weather permits.

Yes, kinda throws the theory of an updated part out the window. Sucks that this happened to you as well. I wonder if you just got unlucky and got a defective updated part?
