The biggest appeal for me is the possibility of not having to hit the gas station or bring fuel with me when I go out out hunting for a week or two at a time. Just set up a couple of solar panels and charge my truck every other day while I'm out exploring.

Plug-in hybrid would be best for this endeavor, giving me the best of ICE & EV technology in one package. Sounds like we might get exactly what I'm describing with the 4G Tacoma...

For people that need to haul stuff, there is no appeal right now.

If you only need a truck in spring to get a few bags of mulch, you can do that in a Prius. Or an electric Hummer. I fully expect to see one at Home Depot in a few weeks.

You’re going to need a lot of solar panels for that or a lot of time.

For people that don’t need to haul stuff far they work great. I tow 7000lbs a couple times a week and it is the best tow vehicle I have ever owned, better than my old 2500HD diesel.

125 miles give or take. If I had to go farther on a frequent basis I definitely wouldn’t own this truck.

I wonder when smart forecasters think electric truck adoption will be mainstream. For instance, when will the bass boat crowd use them, yard maintenance crews, etc.

    5 years? 10 years?

Yard maintenance would probably be good to go now in most suburban areas. Low speed and not a lot of total distance to cover would play into the strengths of an EV truck. Boat towing is dependent on distance to the lake of course. For your average guy probably not an issue, for the professionals that travel the country for tournaments it’s not going to work for a while.

I rather go easy on all that battery stuff. Many documented cases of fires from skate boards, bikes, phones EV's roofs. I value my home and like to sleep with both eyes closed lol!

I bought an EV mower. Unless I sharpen the blade every 2-3 mows of my small yard, the battery life sucks and I can't finish the yard in one battery. The battery died and it cost me a pretty penny to replace, the cost of the battery was more than a cheap gasoline powered mower. And I am not against EVs at all, but I am against a one size fits all approach that many governments are pursuing. It will always need to be a mix but politicians who can profit off making regulations are heading down the path to not allowing a mix. In addition, EV batteries do have a finite life too, not exactly sure what the life span will be but the life cycle of the battery is not well managed at this point nor will it be by 2035. I think one of the greatest traits of humanity is adaptation, if we allow the market to work as it should and EVs emerge victorious on their own based off affordability, lower cost to own and environmental impact then great. However, forcing regulations that are short sided and haven't truly been vetted for an entire lifecycle approach because it wins you brownie points with the media and the loudest activists to me isn't good policy. Humanity was granted with a huge advantage with our ability to adapt and innovate. In addition the loudest activists that want EVs also are the same ones that prevent mines from being built in the USA where we actually have labor laws---seen articles that multiple mines in US have been blocked by activist groups. Instead they are ok for other countries to use children and slave labor to extract the minerals needed for EVs. There is no such thing as a free lunch. As much grief as fossil fuels get, access to a relatively cheap fuel source that they have provided has saved millions of lives, extended the life span of humans greatly, and reduced poverty and increased standard of living across the globe. Forcing a energy transition (before the technology and infrastructure is ready for prime-time) that diminishes the standard of living and forces people into energy insecurity and increases poverty is anti-human. And people who scream the loudest about it and have the influence over the policies typically fly private jets, which emit more CO2 than anything I will use in my lifetime, so a little hard for me to take them seriously.

Which mower? I've had an EGO mower, leaf blower, and snow blower for the past couple of years and they've been nothing but absolute beasts.

Haven't had any issues and haven't had to do any maintenance. Charge the batteries and go.

That's the one I have, St. Augustine and Centipede grass gets thick. I have had to start leaving it longer and it just barely makes after sharpening blade about once a month. I have the blower and weedeater too...Those always make it through use on one battery so they have been good.
