Just got back from the gym and had a great workout! Felt the burn in everything and overall feel really good. Glad to be getting into a habit of going to the gym. I also saw this older lady who was ripped. It was gross.

That was the hardest part for me. I used to be in the gym every morning at 0530, for an hour, 6 days a week. But it's really unproductive.

Scientifically, it takes a little over a week for your muscles to heal 100%. You feel like you've lost strength because your muscle aren't fully recovered, and your body's energy is still depleted. You would HAVE to be stronger if you waited a little bit longer. It's science.
Working totally separate muscle groups makes no difference. Say you work chest on on monday. You break down the fibers in your pectorals, as well as your shoulders and triceps. But you ALSO drain your body's energy supply, which a lot of people overlook. Think of the body's energy supply like a glass of water. After your workout, your energy or "glass of water" is drained down to say 1/3. Your body needs that 1/3 to recover from the stress you put on it with your workout. Now say you do back on tuesday, an entirely separate muscle group. Your "glass of water" is still 1/3 full. So what your body needed to heal itself from the damage you put on it on monday, it now uses for your workout on tuesday. So not only did you short circuit the growth of mondays workout, but you don't have the energy you need to stimulate proper muscle growth for your back.
It's hard to explain unless I explain the WHOLE concept start to finish. I suggest reading a couple of Mike Mentzer's books on HIT training if you want to know further.

This sounds very weird to me but upon research, I may not be getting enough rest between my workouts. I usually do a 3 day split, but come to think of it, I was working out once a week on vacation and came back to work and was benching more then when I left. I think I may have to try something along these lines, possibly a 4-5 day split. I'd be interested in ya'lls input! Here's what I'm thinking for a 4-5 day split:

    Upper Body:
Dead Lift: Warm up set 1x6, 2 sets to failure
Military Press: Warm up set 1x6, 2 sets to failure
Bench Press: Warm up set 1x6, 2 sets to failure
Weighted Dips: 2 sets to failure
Barbell Row: Warm up set 1x6, 2 sets to failure
Weighted Pull Ups: 2 sets to failure
    High Rep Ab workout

    Lower Body:
Squats: Warm up set 1x6, 2 sets to failure
Leg Press: 4 sets to failure, 2 foot placement wide, 2 foot placement close
Leg Extensions: 2 sets to failure
Leg Curl: 2 sets to failure
Straight Leg Dumbbell Dead Lift: 2 sets to failure
Standing Calf Raise: 1 set to failure
Seated Calf Raise: 1 set to failure
    Weighed Ab workout

Cardio sometime in between workouts at moderate intensity, around 20-30 min.
