    Here is 1B Wide beam info. It's pretty much half power 2B HXB wide. Operation temp also very similar to 2 Banger HXB @crashnburn80 tested.

    Took about 25~30 min to reach output stabilization phase. Same thermal roll back logic.
    Pressure equalizing vent is same style as 2B

    If anyone has particular technical questions, let me know.

    Measured beam center intensity was about 7,800Cd (I gave spec minimum as 6,750Cd) at T=30 min mark. Ambient temp 23C on provided U bracket mount.

    Well that’s a trap I missed. I guess the only way to approached from the backside would be to create a custom bezel and drill in to the front light bezel. Or…. Some sort of waterproofing interface once you separate the two and sandwich the front grille. But that’s challenging, the ribbed fascia is not smooth at all.

    It’s almost like, well, Toyota didn’t design this for additional fogs or cornering lights.o_O

    That IsoCan plot is pretty accurate representation of beam spread. Each grid is 10 degree in that plot. Prime 500+Cd beam is about 75 degree wide. When aimed as SAE Fog, 0.75D to 6.5D carry higher intensity Total vertical spread is 9.25 ~9.5 degree

    High intensity band is fairly uniformed, feel free to aim lamp upto 20 degree outward. And it still will cover forward angle

    Is the SSC2 Fog lens direction specific in how it is installed? If I understand this statement correctly, then mounting an SSC2 Fog upside-down (assuming there is a "top" and "bottom" to the lens) would produce more uplight or glare? I have a pair of the SSC2 Pro Fogs on my motorcycle mounted upside-down (mounted under a bar with the bracket on the topside) and I have had a hard time aiming them. Though I don't use them all the time, if I run across traffic it seems to be producing quite a bit of glare even on a flat road surface without leaning. I have them aimed like I have any other fog light with about a 2" drop at 25ft and they are moutned about 24" off the ground.

    Yes, the pattern is slightly different on top vs bottom of the C2, it is not fully symmetrical. If you have any way to flip them, that would help!

    Thanks, I should have looked closer at the plot and I would have picked up on that. The intensity scale is a bit weird; not linear, and yet not logarithmic. What intensity is considered the FWHM with regards to visibility?

    I should be able to just remove the lens, flip it over and reinstall correct? I'm pretty set on the way it's currently mounted. Though I have considered mounting them lower so the lean angle doesn't exaggerate the lights level as much.

    Another issue is that spacing the optic out from the emitter will result in a lot of light lost within the housing, and poorer performance. If attempting to use these for side lamps, you really need to either ount the lamp behind the bumper and sandwich it to an outer bezel, or vice versa, mounting the lamp in through am opening in the bumper and tying in some sort of reinforcement bracket on the backside of the bumper.

    Yes, the execution is nice and not intended for street use but if you followed the discussion in this thread that solution was being proposed for use on the street as an SAE cornering light solution tied into the turn signal circuit for activation, like an OEM SAE cornering lamp. There is no way to use a non-SAE off-road lamp tied into the turn signals responsibly. Hence my comment stands correct. Off highway lights should not be used on the street in place of SAE compliant lights for use with oncoming/forward traffic. I did not seek out to criticize that setup for street use, it was proposed as a solution here and I pointed out that patterns for that lamp should not be used for the suggested SAE purpose being discussed in this SAE thread.

    I look forward to trying your new SAE fog lights when they are released as the new projector style optics certainly won't have the light spill or gradient issues. If you offered them in smaller sizes in the future like a 1x2 or 1x1 emitter setups, people could have other creative uses, as is the case with a 1 emitter SAE fog that was being discussed above.

    That’s actually a big deal I hadn’t considered; appreciate the insight. Even if it’s only 2-3mm of thickness, I suspect it will throw the lighting geometry off significantly. So that really only leaves going with the original flush mount and trimming if needed, or a somehow mounting *to* the manufacturer’s front bezel and securing that to a custom bezel.

    FWHM is not useful parameter for vehicle front lighting "aim" dependent projection character, those are more for general lighting like ceiling lamp or as light source Lambertian spread describing type of parameter.

    Visibility is based on lamp mount height, aim and distribution, it may require some study on but IsoCan really is only and best way to describe beam character.
    I can generate driver view, etc, what mount height, aiming and road condition you have in mind to see view impression?

    For IsoCan scale
    It was Log scale plot but iso line interval config may be not familiar scale.
    To make it easier comparison, I borrowed DD website SSC2 Pro Fog lamp data sheet scale and color coding style adopted.

    C2 plot on their data sheet isn't aimed view as SAE, but you can see overall distribution character. C2 Pro fog has 5,000+Cd range 25 degree wider
    This is great comfort in offroad wide beam applicaiton.
    For Fog lamp use, C2 Pro still need to be aimed down another 3 degree or so

    SSC2 SAE Fog lens has locator, only fit in designed way. It's still symmetrical beam globally shifted downward type of adjustment.
    If you are using lamp upside down, I assume you just need to aim down largely.

    The location I’m investigating puts a pair about 46” apart, 27” from road surface, and angled outboard about 30 degrees each. I could tweak the angle with a custom bezel, but think the default angle provided by the Tacoma geometry might be just about right. I haven’t looked to see if there’s any up/down angle of the surface yet. I don’t think anyone makes an SAE light that’s small enough to fit within the ribs in that location, they’d need to be about 1.75” tall. So I’ll likely need to include the ribs in my cutting design.

    <edit> This is for an attempt at installing some cornering lights.

    You'll have to modify the lens slightly by removing the locating tab to allow it to be mounted upside-down, but it is possible with a few minutes and a Dremel. Thanks!

    1Banger is 50mm vertical 48.8mm wide, won't work without some modification to 1.75" size limitation.

    Assuming you try to use 1B as cornering lamp?
    I output setup based on your lamp mount config, ( but 1B wide beam itself is 3.7 degree aimed downward ( or it won't comply as Cornering lamp due to glare exceed above H line)

    Quick mock up, but you get idea of beam coverage. Hope you can make something interesting!
