To me it feels like both sides because it stops evenly without pulling

they said the tore everything apart yesterday think it was a brake line or a caliper sticking. They determined after checking everything that it all was ok

aaaaah, yes. good point. 11 year old rubber bulging under pressure could be the issue.

also 11 year old fluid could cause pressure fluctuation as well.

but it would be very strange for these two things to coincidentally be a problem right after he got new pads and turned rotors.

would bulging lines cause the brakes to be softer or more aggressive?

the rubber brake hose would bulge while you are pressing the brake, or after holding the brake. this would cause a "im pressing the pedal and it is stoping me, but then it gets spongy and isnt stopping so much" effect.

but if there is a bunch of crap in the line, from old rubber and old broken down fluid, then you could get random feel as the crap clogs up one area but not consistently.

were all four of the removed pads worn out equally?

perhaps a piston is stuck, or became un stuck because the mechanic has to compress the pistons to make space for the new thicker pads.

you probably should bleed your brake lines i bet the old fluid is muddy looking.

you could have a broken piston seal, or a stuck piston, but a mechanic should have noticed this when doing the work.

Agree, and more so if both sides are affected. Back to the drawing board!

Ok. I’m having the opposite happen to me the first 1-2 mile drive every day. Sometimes twice a day if truck has sat for 4 hours or ao

oh I know how to do brakes. Never done a Toyota yet but I’ve owned 96 vehicles and have down a lot of brakes lol. I appreciate your input and will do some investigating when I’m off work againThe dealership I bought truck from paid Toyota to do the brakes. Otherwise I would be running aftermarket gear

I will try to get a picture of brake fluid. It’s about 2 years old. Still a healthy hydrated urine color

This thought crossed my mind. I've never owned or used full racing pads. I'm sure they aren't going to lock up on the first two uses. They probably need to get pretty hot to work.

These needed a little heat in them to work.

Perhaps your problem is abs related. I have a basic understanding how it works. Maybe someone more knowledgeable could chime in. Would an unplugged or damaged sensor cause his symptoms?

I'm pretty sure it would throw a code on the abs check light

    yeah no abs lights ever.

the biggest thing that confuses me no matter what the outcome fix is, is why does it only do it for the first two breaking cycles after truck sets a while and then is good until it sits again. no change in brake pedal feel either way. just the first two stops want to lock up front wheels they grab so hard.

Dude. Same thing is happening to me.

First thing starting, the brakes are almost non existent and go almost tothe floor. .. OR have drag that slows the truck sorta quickly, enough, i would say and connects immediately wat the beginning of the pedal push. .
Then after 10-15 minutes, they either fix themselves, or don't. Both sides, or sometimes one or the other.
It started after I changed pads. I may have hurt the calipers when I compressed the pistons back in ( i had both sides off the rotors, usu.g my hands i squeezed outside passenger pistons and heatd a pop noise on the drivers side but also sound could've came from the brake system.i couldn't tell because it surprised me. Or possibly over extended the driver side pistons,,?? Idk) but also feels like it may be the booster because it's so weird.

PS. The calipers aren't typical. The have two little pins and the "M" looking spring between the bottom of the pads.
