Skid Plates Thoughts

I will be fabricating skid plates for my taco. Thoughts on material thickness. Im thinking 3/16" or 1/4" steel. Also thinking about using stiff rubber 1/2" bushing on each mounting bolt between plate and frame. As always imput and criticism is appreciated.

 

Shop skids on mfg's sites to see what they do, and go from there.
Hard rubber spacers sound like a good idea. Soft ones would compress and allow the bolt head to be sheared off.

any added weight to your truck will decrease gas mileage and thats important when gas is heading for $5 to $7 a gallon

 

You are absolutely correct although I will sacrifice a little gas milage to protect my investment.
