the reply from ARE about the fit of their Evolve cap rear window:

    Hello,

Our techs viewed your pictures. Their reply is below.

TECH: That is how all REVO/EVOLVE doors fit at the tailgate.

    Thank You,

    Consumer Affairs

So I asked why the pictures on their website show it fitting flush, but their product does meet their pictures.

I have one of the basic versions since only a few models can have "windoors" installed:

I got my Leer during covid, and it had many paint flaws. Leer was a disaster to deal with, and so was Cap It. I ended up accepting a $850.00 refund to put an end to the madness. Two companies I will never deal with ever again.

I am an ARE dealer, they all fit like that. And yes, delivery times have greatly improved recently. I have been getting some in under 4 weeks the last month or so.

I am glad that you got some refund. What model of the cap you have?

The 100R. Not the most expensive model out there but the issues with the paint were just blatant. They obviously sent it out the door thinking I would not raise a fuss about it.

Yeah I know what you meant.. either that or they go like "fuk it, send it out and let me work on next one." which they knew they were behind the orders that time.

To follow up on all this, I got quotes from three dealers on the Overland cap. They all were within $400 of each other. All three gave a lead time of 4 to 6 weeks.

The dealer nearest to me quoted the lowest price which included color matching and install of the cap (only two of the three had that). They will be getting my business. I'm pulling in the order on Friday.

That’s amazing, I wish ARE would have been that efficient when I ordered. It’s crazy how much stuff changed in just a year. I hope you get yours fast!

Waiting as long as I did was really terrible; I came close to canceling my order a few times. At one point, my dealer actually reached out to me and offered to give me a free loaner cap and cancel my order with a full refund because ARE was being so ridiculous. They said they were getting a lot of complaints about ARE from customers around that time. Nothing to do with quality, just customer service stuff. I hope you have a better experience.

I was searching around DC on Facebook Marketplace, and most of what I saw was long bed shells. Just look several times a day, one will pop up for a decent price.

We'll see. @Road_Warrior it sounds like your dealer was mislead by A.R.E. on the delivery time, but it does sound like A.R.E. have picked up the pace of deliveries.

Don't get me wrong, I really excited about getting this shell on my truck (I've basically been researching them since I bought it). I guess I'm just managing my expectations.

It definitely sounds like the lead time you were quoted is correct based on what other people have posted recently. You won’t regret spending the money, it adds so much utility to the truck it’s amazing.
