.15 is high ouch. I don't remember it being that bad when I was there, but I guess since you basically live where it's uninhabitable you have to factor in running your life support air conditioner all the time into the base rate. I don't ever cross the threshold of our low rate here into the higher rate so I'm only .07

Zero insulation and leaky walls mean we have to run electric heat all winter and ac for summer but neither are on high blast. We just fall over into some of our power getting charged at .11

I'd have to get you the exact number - might be more like .10-.11 actually. But I never got an avg power value for my NAS either. I could also just not use it in peak summer time. Needless to say though, has some non-idealities that just puts it now comparable to Netflix imo, not the clear winner

Agreed. As far as power goes, VFD's can be finicky. Most of the devices/systems in these "mission critical" environments operate in an N+1 or N+2 configuration. Instead of having a backup VFD for a pump, they'll just have 3 independent VFD/pump systems. It's not uncommon for us to have 3 systems when only one is needed for fully loaded operations. Leaves one for operation, one for standby and one de-energized for maintenance etc.

Run the generators in the summer to sell power back to the city during peak load. We have about 6 or 8 of these bad boys hooked to the UPS. upload_2023-2-1_9-6-59.jpg

These look small but the same idea.
