2009 (2ndGen.) V6/sr5 Alternator replacement

I was told I had to removed the fan and push the radiator to removed the alternator of the 09 tacoma ?

 

Negative.

Disconnect battery cable.
Remove engine cover
Remove belt
Remove charging wire
Unplug alternator
Unbolt alternator

Who ever told you that was reading the FSM. Sure, pulling the fan will give you more room. But I don’t know anyone that does that? The only people doing that is a dealer or shop. And that’s on paper. The tech sure isn’t doing it. He’s beating book time.

Just get in there and get it done.

 

Your right the dealer is doing this type of work.

Talking about round it off to 4hrs labour.

I told them this doesn't seem right.

Removing the battery and tray will give you “room to work”. And a better picture of what you are doing. But you don’t “have to”.
