Dex is unamused with my early arrival home, sometimes he's all amped up when I get home and other times he just acts like a moody teenager lol

    PXL_20230203_005211528.PORTRAIT.jpg

Took him to the vet yesterday for a check-up (required by the boarding facility we're using while we're gone next week), he's 100% they just said to keep him the exact way he is.

@Kwikvette @Speedytech7 have you guys rebuilt/resealed the Tcases in your Cruisers? Also do you know if the VC in there would still be working by now?

I like his eyeshadow. You got one of them "it's not a phase mom!" doggos.

I took mine apart to change input and output shaft seals. My VC definitely works. Not hard to tell, just jack it up and spin tires, either puts up a fight or doesn't.

I had a sulfury smell from my 80 after driving for a while. I thought it was the cats being plugged up by 15w40 but I wonder if it could've been the tcase leaking onto the exhaust. That's something I'll look out for if I test drive another. I was told it wasn't exactly a beginner job to reseal the xcase.

Anyway I really liked how the VC behaved in snowy and icy conditions along with the full-time 4wd. I miss not having to worry about binding when the road is partly snow-covered.

Gear oil certainly smells sulphery. Resealing the case sucks, have to take it off the trans and do it on the bench, requires a press and making some fixtures. Took me most of a weekend being lazy about it.

For sure! I want to get down there off-season sometime. Maybe with some warm weather but also when the water is low.

I did a run back in May from Ponca to Erbie from Tues.-Thurs. and it wasn't that crowded at all.

This is the reason that I'm so partial to Newton County.

The best mod that I've made besides installing the front locker, was to take mine up to Jason Harris in West Plains and got him to reseal the TC, install a new rear bearing, and then install the Sumo Gear 4L 25% reduction gears. It came out quieter in 4H due to the new bearing. Now it crawls in 4L.

My case it loud, and always has been. It's like light straight cut gear flutter. I don't need crawler gears but I'd like to feel the difference
