Can confirm. The pay is crap but the dinners are great. Company is questionable.

My son's GR86 doesn't get driven in the snow; he either drives our old 5-Speed 4.9 liter Ford F-150 (in the background) or my Tacoma (also in the background). :)

Great cars. And yes, it's another expensive hobby, coming from my experience modifying and tracking imports.

Pulled the TOB apart and am mystified.

The seals were perfect. I could not detect a rough spot with axial pressure. Both races look great the whole way around. The nylon bearing cage is intact. Gonna have an expert feel the balls. :D

No more chirps or worries, soooooo :woot: .

Getting ready for an exciting weekend! Lots of parts collected for a regear. Unfortunately the ice has been here all week so I haven’t been able to prep like I wanted, which mostly would be removing the TRD skid and my Miller CatShield. Guess I’ll be removing those tomorrow and I’ll probably still have ice water dripping on me. Oh well.

Really excited for the results. 5.29 and stock tires will be a wheelie popper but also awesome. The plan is step up tires later but knowing me I’ll probably fall in love with the performance and not want to step up tires lol. We’ll see. Still very interested in doing the Hilux transmission eventually to go with this. We’ll see.

need to pack up the parts, collect a few tools, and remove those two plates. Otherwise I’m ready to get to work early Saturday AM!

Comparison videos to be posted when it’s all done and the new gears are broken in so I can romp on them.

It’s definitely less dramatic than it sounds. I mostly didn’t want to shoot myself in the foot by going with 4.88 and getting a minor change, plus like I said stepping up tires is likely as well as possibly the Hilux trans. If the Hilux trans doesn’t ever pan out then I’ll just enjoy the extra gearing.

I'm looking at 4.88s based on user reviews and experience, running 33s.

Should drive similarly to stock if that’s what you’re after. Maybe a tiny bit better.

There have been a few 5.29/33 folks with the manual and all have been huge fans of it.

My baby the day that I picked it up from the dealership. I drove three hours to go get it because it was the nearest new Tacoma with a manual transmission that I could find.

Revolution is typically fantastic. They’re raved about in the Jeep world and I had great results with them on my Jeep. I’ll post up my results for sure!

I don’t even want to think about 37’s on 4.30s….lol. Reverse is probably turrible! Hell even 5.29 just barely brings you back to stock.

Yep, third clutch is in… 102000 miles… freaking worth it tho! So much ground clearance, no need for hoist to do the clutch lol
