They're not going to put a CVT on the I4 2.4L turbo or a naturally aspirated V6. It'll be an automatic 8 speed. I don't know for sure but I'd bet dollars to donuts. Maybe they'd put a CVT on an eventual I4 hybrid powertrain, but that's maybe at best.

Does anyone suspect they'll discontinue the access cab on the Gen 4?

Also, is there any feedback yet from Highlander owners regarding how the T24A-FTS does with towing? I feel like we should have some videos on Youtube but can't find any.

I think that it is a possibility, all the mules are DCSB so they could follow in GM’s direction of one configuration since that is by far the majority of what they sell anyway. But until official I will just wait and see

Supposedly you can pull the turbo without unbolting the engine, according to the tech in this video at the 9' mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqJJ5juYwGg

So that's good for DIY. But a new OEM turbo for the T24A-FTS in the Lexus NX 350 is $3,600. Yikes.

It seems some might recommend replacing the turbo at 100,000-150,000 miles as preventative maintenance. I wonder what the manual will say.

I believe that turbo in the video is on a crossover or transversal engine platform where the exhaust it to the side.

Our truck is a rear axle with the exhaust to the rear with little to no access. In other words, unless the make some kind of access panel, we're screwed, it's gonna be a high $150-200 hr labor rate to mess with that puppy

I can’t make out much from the pictures but I think this is going to be very evolutionarily as far as styling in comparison to the 3rd gen.

I was thinking the opposite. I hope you're right, though.
