I am very much a novice to body work stuff I was thinking of a way to make sure the new outer grill piece doesnt come flying off when the time comes to do spirited driving. My thought was to use a bonding adhesive. Found this and think it'll work well.

So the other issue is where to lay the bead. I was thinking about where the clips are, but also where the two components touch, if they do. there is alot of open voids where the inner grill is. Just brainstorming at this point.

Just as a FYI, you need the "gun" made for that cartridge to apply it. That looks like a 2:1 cartridge. Most guns are capable of 1:1 & 2:1 mixtures. The gun usually comes with two plungers, one for 1:1 & one for 2:1.

 

Should be an on the shelve thing at parts stores right?

 

If you buy it at Summit or Jegs, I am sure they will have it. I have not seen them in the local parts house.

That's better. Truck also runs way better with the iridiums than with the ruthenium plugs.

 

any 2-part plastic epoxy will do the trick. I have a plastic welding tool I made myself from a large gauge wire soldering iron that I use to fuse the inner and outer surrounds together.

The inherent problem with the 05-11 style grill is that for some reason Toyota thought it was a good idea to plastic-weld the inner and outer surrounds. I've seen so many stock grills separate I've lost count.
Toyota fixed the problem with the 12-15 grill and on the 16+ the two parts actually clip together which is even better. too bad they introduced the "smart" cruise control at the same time.

 

I was watching the project farm plastic to metal epoxy comparison as was intrigued. I'll use my 3m bond to glue the grill together. On the newer grill for 05-11 it seems to have more clips and maybe plastic weld. I'm waiting on the gun to be delivered to mess with the grill. Miss how it looked with the homertaco grill.

We'll see how this goes, it it doesn't work then I'll have to get another grill from @HomerTaco and try again. The plastic guides were a pain to deal with.

 

Changed cam sensors to the ones that came off of my truck and you would expect it to have no change. Will I was incorrect, truck ran terrible. Lol. Reset the battery and trucks behavior improved before the cam sensor swap. Can try and swap over the cps but it is interesting how from coils to these sensor have had an influence on the truck.
