Don’t know, noticed a spot on the garage floor, saw coolant was low, looked under the truck and saw the flakey pink evidence. Repaired under warranty.

Oh WoW, there goes my thinking it maybe an easy job. Pulling a tranny with an 4X4 transfer case is no picnic.
I guess I'll have to consider dropping the globe box and cutting a hole thru the firewall lol!

Yeah sucks paying it. I tried to look at the bright side as I paid my truck off last summer. Took the hit as 4 extra payments left lol.

Oh man look, I get it, and feel for anyone with issues of any kind. It’s not just about the money, that maybe the least of it. It’s also about the time and hassle of getting things taken care of and getting it done right, without screwing up something else in the process.

And it’s not just on vehicles either, I’ve had to learn all about HVAC systems and maintain them myself because it’s life and death here in the Gulf south, and you can’t find any quality work when you need it, especially on these new complicated high efficiency systems.

And believe me, or not, TOYOTA is still the best made vehicle and the reason so many like me flock to it. But I'm not buying the warranty, they can keep it, I just want it to work right, if that makes any sense lol!

Same man, I just want my vehicle to last until I retire or 300k miles w minimal mods. Just fresh upgrades lol.

It would suck to always have to replace this piece.

I have yet to see a crossover pipe I couldn't sneak out without removing a engine or transmission. I would bed there is a way to lower one or the other to remove it. Hopefully I never have to find out.

A little guidance: at work this morning. Stuck here 24hrs…
I noticed a small oil-ish spot under my vehicle when the sun came out finally.

Emailed Toyota dealer about it w photos just so its documented.

Should I wash off what appears to be ATF fluid and monitor? Or take this b**** back and request another service with post documentation.

Well that's kinda BS if it is a real leak.

That said, I wonder if it isn't penetrating oil that they sprayed on? They have to remove that crossmember to pull the transmission. I do not see fluid up any higher than the support fasteners?

I am hopeful for you, esp after that extravagant bill. It does have the color of ATF, but some penetrating oils are the same color.

Hell yeah! They bent you over on the first round. It's now on their dime to make it right.

Sorry man, looks like a rear seal to me, I hope I'm wrong. Either they did not replace it with a new one when they pulled out the propeller shaft, as they should have and addressed any burs or groves that may have been left by the old seal lip, or they damaged it during installation.

I would go over the RO and look at the parts list and see if they list one for the rear and the front, it’s always best practice to replace any seal and address any shaft seal groves or marks.

This is precisely why I’d rather have a well made product and not have to deal with warranty issues.

    Best of luck

Try readjusting your hose clamps or replace the hoses and see what happens?

So we been busy at work , responding to calls etc. & I didnt have enough time to thoroughly inspect, came back from a run, I find that the drain plug wasn’t even placed. FML
Called head guy at the dealer/service dept.

They are now towing my truck back which is less than 3 miles away from my fire station. I asked him to keep the truck today and Id be there in the morning after my 24hr shift. Also requested a complete inspection with documentation as I really dont have any faith in the service that was provided.

Yeah. You blew up the theory, which is fine.

Hopefully you get sorted out quickly and properly. At least you know that there will be no charges for you.
