No yet, Just tool tough offs and spindle warm ups. I need to rent a pallet jack and get a few friends over to help move the machine over a foot before I start loading the coolant and cutting parts. We have been frozen over all week so Hopefully I can get that done this weekend.

I can not ever recall warnings like this in my youth .

It is winter this tends to happen Cold snaps do happen .

I remember one winter it never was above (here in eastern Pa) freezing for 3 weeks . Late seventies.

I think I'm finished. :notsure: I knocked the studs out of the rivets and filled two with JB weld so I could drill and tap them to attach the strap.

Damn Sam, that sounds awful although the speed seems right...

Is there something hitting or stuck in the blower?
Usually there are some rubber isolated brackets that hold the motor/blower assembly in place, look and see if some of the hardware is loose of missing.

As someone who has zero machining experience, why don't you cut it with a bandsaw too 0.3" and mill the rest to the needed tolerance? Seems like so much waste could be used for other small items. :homer:

Time is the main reason. Would take as long or longer to saw it as it does to mill it

I went out and checked the mail, it was 6 degrees, came back in and it was 5... :censored:

After paying the $330 electric bill and anticipating the 24% increase I decided today was the day to fire up the ancient coal fired stove.

It is the 523R like in the lower right of the photo below, not two tone though. It hold 100 pounds of coal, will reliably go 24 hours between services and uses 60-70 pounds per day when working hard.

    Warm Morning.jpg

I have put somewhere north of 165,000 pounds of coal through this stove over the years.
A standard coal pail, properly called a hod, holds about 30 pounds that works out to around 5400 pails carried in one at a time - the novelty has worn off.

The hod, I have worn several out.
