I run Blizzak dm-v2. Probably last season only due to age and my LTX aged out this past summer with lots of tread left

The town sent out a voicemail blast to tell us that it was going to be cold and windy. The town library will be open as a warming center.

Nice of them, but I have a whole house generator just in case we lose power.

Your biggest issue is going to be ice. M/T's generally do not have a lot of siping so they suck on slick surfaces. If you run the roads mostly and want to keep your M/T's for the good weather months, you could go with a set of dedicated snows. I wouldn't go for studded (personally). Dedicated snows are certainly not a requirement, any all weather tire with a good tread pattern and good siping will do fine in the winter. I've been running mild A/T tires for years and do just fine. I run dedicated snows on my wife's car and it's an absolute tank when the snow flies.

Man, if you lose power today and have a draft house, it'll cool down real quick! I bet frozen pipes will be an issue for a lot of people this weekend.

Yes. And broken water mains will be a problem once it warms up on Sunday.

That’s a certainty we don’t have a frost line yet. So that barrier if you will, is not there.

Those were my second choice after my Nokians. They used to make them P-rated in 265/75-16, which would make them my next set as I want to drop back down to 16" wheels for my next set (I like my OR wheels better than the Sport 17" wheels I run now) but it doesn't appear they make them anymore.

My best friend has them on his T4R and has zero complaints. The Hankooks I had prior the the Nokians were flawless as well. I got through 2015 with zero drama. We've had very mild winters since I bought the Nokians. If buying them, a BF snowblower and a large inverter generator wards off snow, it's money well spent.

Ive had blizzaks in the past and no complaints, but after three winters were about toast. 4 winters ago i bought firestone winterforce, not studded, and they are still going strong. Much cheaper than blizzaks at the time, and really am very happy with the performance. I plow my steep driveway with them. Only a very few times i wished i got studs, but i cant stand the chatter.

After this cold snap. It’s gonna warm up again. No precipitation to speak of. Yet.

Yeah, a lot of places will be an absolute mud pit next week. This freeze thaw crap just turns the ground to mush.

Same here - I have Nokian Hakka R3s on a separate set of wheels. Helps keep my OEM 20" wheels looking good. Plus the tires are awesome. This is probably the last year for them and I'm not sure if I want the R5 or the studless LT3. The benefit of the LT3 is I can get it in a 265/70/18 - I'd prefer narrower in the winter. But, going studless the R5 will have the softer compound.

I have Nokian WR G4 SUV all-weather tires on the girlfriend's CX-5. We took that through the last snow storm to bring the cat to surgery and I was really impressed. They feel pretty close to an actual snow tire - maybe even better than some cheaper ones.

I bought oem wheels off a local guy for winters, same exact rims. The difference between the summer and winter wheels is eye opening. The winters are bubbling, corroding paint, summers are your usual dings.

I stopped by the body shop while I was out doing some stuff. Good news! I should have the Taco back Monday. It needs one of the clear body protection decals applied and the wheel well trim put back on. Then he's sending it out for an alignment because of where the left rear wheel got hit. That was replaced because it had a gouge on it.

The body and paint work is done and it looks like new.

Mine are actually the 18" wheels that would have come on my truck if it wasn't ordered with the optional 20s. They're still looking pretty good, but don't have as much paint to bubble as the 20s do.

    18s:

    20s:

The 20s would probably be trashed by the salt.

Northeast down spout came off. From the house. Them brackets ain’t cheap! I’ll shit can the originals. ( hidden brackets that screw in behind the spout) I have some extra spout that I can fab up as a proper wrap around design. And plenty of screws for the job. But it’s not gonna be done til the wind dies down. Might even wait til Sunday. Not that big a job but big enough to impress the wife :)
