Does my 05” taco have drl

I bought some alpha rex headlights for my 05 Tacoma base. It came with a drl conversion kit but it said it may not be necessary. My current headlights have three modes: 1: headlight+ side light off (not sure if that’s what it is, it’s some light on the side but not the turn signal) 2: side light on 3: headlight + side light on
So do I need to install that drl converter or can I just plug and play?

 

1). Start truck
2). With foot on brake, release park brake and shift to drive. Don’t move forward. Put truck back in park, apply park brake.
3). While still running, get out and look at the “signal lights”. If they are solidly lit, Yes you have DRL. If not, you don’t.

#2 can be manually engaged to act as a DRL and eat bulbs faster

 

My ‘06 has DRLs, . I think a lot has to do with WHERE your Taco was first registered, and what equipment laws were in place. In Canada, DRLs have been a thing since 2000. What I read on here, a bunch of states, not so much.

 

Alpharex does not make headlights, they rebrand cheap Chinese floodlights
Please do everyone a solid and return them and get your money back

 

My 05 does not, my 06 did have drl

 

I heard they have fogging problems too.
