Hair dryer on the cold pipes

 

Called my heating company, they came and determined it was frozen pipes as well. Came back with their "big Bertha" heater. Gonna stink up the house for awhile, but I'll take some smell over frozen house.

 

All the possibly frozen pipes are beneath floor or above ceiling. Sadly we passed the point of hair dryers and heat guns. Crazy part is the house had been heated to 60 until that happened

 

So obviously a couple of cold spots somewhere.

 

My second story overhangs the foundation by about 6 inches. We're guessing that's roughly where at least two of the baseboard runs are directly over

 

Oh great. But then again, this is a once in a lifetime event..

House up to 60. Wife and I leaving on our weekend vacation to NYC. Thanks to my pops for watching the house while we're gone and making sure it thaws out. He encouraged us to go and not cancel the trip. See y'all after the weekend

 

Brrrr.

No frozen pipes....phew. I did run my Mr Buddy heater on low (connected to 20lb propane tank) in my attached garage. Temp is usually set to 56. It's 62 now. I have a hydronic heater but it's at the back of my garage and there can be a sizeable temp difference closer to the door (even with it being insulated) in extreme temps. And there's a 1/2 bath just above that had a pipe freeze years ago. Have that faucet dripping. Only need to do that when temp approach low single digits or less. All is good thankfully.

Be safe, this cold/wind chill is nothing to take lightly.

No frozen pipes here either @Sig45 . Had two faucets cracked.
Downstairs 60°, upstairs 65°. She’s wide open. Finding things with this new furnace that
Need to be addressed.
Another 24 hours and it should move on..

 

Poultry report: Coop stayed around 30-35° overnight.

Made it to NYC at 3:30 this morning, it was pretty neat driving through Times Square with virtually zero traffic and all green lights. Good thing we decided to drive, our flight got cancelled due to weather anyways. Stay warm peeps!

 

Yup ,the wind here is brutal . House is 2x4 construction except for the rear that we added on .
