Hey Connecticut, our backs hurt

Good morning CT!
Don't think I'll be venturing out today. I don't need to tell you how cold it is out there.

Came home yesterday, the lights in the hallway were out (I live in an apartment). Took a couple steps and the lights turned on. The landlord put motion sensor LED lights in the hallways. Now you can see alot better and the lights work when you need them, not on a timer like before.

 

If I do venture out I think I'll remote start the truck rather than open a garage door and lose heat in there

 

A chain can break and NOT cause engine damage? I don’t understand how that is possible.

 

In a non-interference motor the piston can reach TDC and not contact an open valve.

 

When they do break the engine usually stalls, but this is also dependent on engine RPM at the time.

I've worked on many Eagle Talon 4 cylinders (Mitsubishi), they are an interference engine and when the belt would break, sometimes there would be damage and sometimes not. I would ask the customer "when did it stall?".
If they told me at a stop light, there was a good chance a new timing belt is all that is needed.

Oh ok. I knew the northwest corner of Conn. is typically the coldest, but didn't hear it got as cold as Bill's area! I have to say the heater in the Tacoma is great. Even yesterday's late afternoon commute home after about 15-20 minutes it was warm enough where I turned the blower down to setting 2.

 

NY . I’m about 20 minutes NW of Lakeville Connecticut.

 

Got ya - I had a customer in Lakeville several years ago, an inn I believe right on Rt.44. Nice ride going out there, as I'll bet it is beyond that going into NY.

Trying to find the original post. Nice trailer! I can't tell - are those pellet bags on it? I wish I could master backing up a trailer, the low height and ramp is nice. I had a 4x6 one years ago used with my former Subaru Forester. When empty and I couldn't back it up quite right I'd just pick up the back of the thing and move it! It was lightweight being a small one.

I've heard though - longer trailers can actually be easier to back up, I guess due to the longer tongue.

 

Yup, my manager at one job had one. Loved it for all of 3 weeks before that snapped.
