Shock install trouble..

recently purchased some tundra converted king shocks from accutune and tried to slap them on before work today. I thought it would b as easy as my eibach shocks in the rear but these kings dont compress by hand like the eibachs do. I cant seem to get it in the lower shock mount. Ive tried dropping the axle down but still has got a few inches to go. any tips on getting it in?? I just put my old shock back for now.. I thought to use my floor jack to conpress it upwards towards the mount but do I risk damaging my new shocks like that? thanks attatched a couple pics for reference

 

Hmmmm, just how much up travel you planning on having once those are installed?

 

supposively these have an inch more travel then the kings actually designed for a tacoma

 

They may well have, but just looking at the picture, the body is too long and you won't have any up travel. Are you installing a lift as well or just replacing? Are they longer than the shocks you are replacing?

 

Hm im just replacing the shock it is already lifted. Also it is slightly longer than my eibachs.

 

The joys of pressurized shocks. I usually use a ratchet strap to compress them along with a few swear words.

 

Why are you even supporting the axle?

Support the truck by the frame and let the axle droop all the way.

 

Looks like your shock is not correctly sized. Appears to be more travel between frame and the bump stop than shock up travel. That would not go well.

Your current shock is what will limit drop today. As suggested jack up the frame and let the axle hang without a shock. Then check length with axle jacked up on one side to the bump stop close as you can get to the frame. See if that new shock would fit. (Spoiler: it won’t fit the compressed length)

 

How much lift does it have? Might not be enough?
I doubt Accutune would sell you the wrong thing (unless you ordered without talking to them).
As others have said, support the truck by the frame and let the axle droop as far as it can so you have more room.

 

I have these same shocks from @AccuTune Offroad. However, I have extended brake lines and taller bumpstops. The factory bumpstops and brake lines are insufficient for this setup.

Simple, but necessary fixes.

 

Put a jackstand under the frame.
Allow the left side to droop
If you need it lower, jack right side of the axle. It will lower the left side

Most importantly, make darn sure the frame is supported with a jack strand on each side.
Getting squished would hurt a bit

 

You might get away with the factory brake lines (I wouldn't), but you absolutely need talker bumpstops.

 

Yea I am planning on brake lines soon. To everyone I already have a taller bumpstop and ubolt flip just havent replaced it yet

 

It sure apprars that way.. I have 2 inches of lift in rear. Online it says these work for 1.5-3 inches.

 

Just unbolt the spring and let it go down farther and bolt her up

You need to let the axle droop to get a decent chance to install that. But I agree with the other posters. Looks like it's far too long of a body.

If you want longer travel install some shock relocation brackets, but they require a fair amount of cutting and grinding and welding.

Shocks shown below are King 2.5x12" Adjustable - KRS-PR2512-SS-A

 

Did you jack it up from the axle?!

 

^Yes he's clearly doing that. The jack pad is on the U-bolt plate.
