Picked up the 21 used from a ford dealer and the truck had previous undisclosed body work done. Was chasing an annoying low grade rattle that sounded like a bad shock. Toyota dealer said truck was fine. Knowing all this I wanted out of it. This was to be my dream truck final new car purchase blah blah blah. Scam dealer looking back on it now. Was able to trade it in for 23 Pro and the drive home from the dealer I now know the 21 definitely had something wrong with it cause the new truck is solid, no rattles. I'm glad I got it. My mistake was not getting a pre purchase inspection done. I lost quit a bit of money to get to this point. I'm good now I love this truck. Thanks to Williams Toyota in Elmira and Don Miller in sales did a great job. Was surprised to when he said they never marked up any Pro model, even through the pandemic. :)

That certainly makes sense, glad you got out of the '21. I too purchased my 2023 from a dealer(local to me even) who did not and does not mark up above MSRP(I'm super grateful there are some out there). I'm super happy for you and your new truck.

I was actually the same way when I got mine, that’s why I put 700 miles on it first. My main problem was the truck felt so nice compared to my old trooper, that the Tacoma shifting seemed fine. But as soon as I tuned it it was a night and day difference. I honestly still don’t understand why the stock shifting/programming is so bad. I’ve met people who traded in tacomas because of the shifting issue, that didn’t know about the tune or that there is a fix for it. Just seems off to me, but I’m just a firefighter not an engineer or something.

I picked up my 2023 SR 4x4 V6 just under two weeks ago, and I love it. Already put 1700 miles on the odometer. I’m thinking I should have switched over years ago.

I just picked up a 2023 TRD OR yesterday...only about 50 miles driven so far, but I fell in love with it on the test drive.

I drove past 5 Toyota dealerships to go to the only one that I didn't find practicing "shady sales practices" either on their website or on their window stickers.

I ended up paying $1500 under MSRP for one they had on their lot (4 miles on it, so I don't even think anyone test drove it yet) (that was exactly how I would have ordered it anyway)...and then I was able to negotiate an extra $500 on my trade too...which was already a fair price that they offered me initially.

nice I’m glad they are finally coming off the MSRP price. I was able to get my access cab for $1000 under even know they said they never do that, but it’s an access cab so I think they are way less desirable.

It's funny - the dealership I found had FOUR Toyota vehicles total on the lot. And two were Tacoma TRD OR. One was red (got purchased by a guy that drove from Ohio - this one had the technology package)...and then the gray one, which is the one I got (mine came with the Toyota hard tonneau cover - which I would have wanted to purchase anyway, but would have cheaped out and got the soft one...so I'm super happy it had that by default).

As I was waiting to complete paperwork, a car carrier pulled in and he offloaded four more toyotas, but none were Tacomas.

So I live by a big highway, and we have dealerships in 3 directions. The one I ended up going to was the furthest I was considering. The second closest - had one at $15,000 OVER MSRP (it was a manual, but still...I can't justify giving that dealership a dime honestly).

At the Nissan dealer (I considered the Frontier Pro4x) they had $4995 tacked on for paint and windshield protection that was *already applied.* Zero chance I would have paid for that, if we were able to make a deal...but if it wasn't optional, I guess I would have eventually walked out anyway (read on to the next paragraph for more on this)... I have applied my own ceramic coating in the past and didn't find it complicated or hard to do. So no way i'd pay for application.

And, the Nissan dealer started by making me sit at a table and basically fill out some customer survey that was over 50 questions long, which included questions like "What features do you want on a vehicle." I tried to explain to the salesman that I was there to buy the Pro4x that I was looking at when he first approached me. Needless to say, I made it about 10 questions into their non-optional questionnaire and left. I did go back today in the brand new TRD OR (it's right by my window tinting place) just to look at the Pro4x again and so they could see that I wasn't full of anything yesterday.

Snagged a 23’ SR, 4WD, V6 a few weeks ago. I like to be different so chose the SR so I could build how I wanted. Already made a few mods so it didn’t look like a pest control truck….lol

Now for the $5 SR grill mod. Personally I like the 23’ SR grill. Felt like it needed something subtle to complete it. Literally $5 section of black coated aluminum leaf guard from Lowe’s. About 45 minutes start to finish, fits like a glove. I can’t believe these aren’t manufactured.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
    Meh. It’s ok.

I stepped way down from a ram 3500 CCLB Cummins to a Tacoma.

I miss my ram, but I was fed up with a POS boss and decided that I wanted to go back to being retired.

I need a truck for my lifestyle, and the Tacoma works. I am content with it, but feel that Toyota has some downhill quality issues. Fit and finish have gotten worse over the years (18 Rav4, 22 Corolla, 22 Highlander, 23 Tacoma all have interior rattles and panel alignment issues from the factory)

I don’t regret my decision, but I indeed miss my ram and I know that this truck is an 18 month truck for me. Maybe 24.

I love my new Tacoma. Just bought it last week. I had a 1992 Toyota Extra cab 4x4 and loved that, but rust killed it. Then it was Subaru for a while.

I have similar thoughts and feelings and also miss my Ram. With the exception of a 90's Chevy Blazer, my '22 Tacoma has the worst fit and finish of any vehicle I've owned which have included other toyotas, dodge/ram, ford, honda, and acura.

Been chasing and fixing squeaks and rattles that started after the first 1000 miles. i cringe every time i drive on a gravel road. the truck sounds and feels like something is going to fall off. when my wife and a friend comment, i know it is not just me.

i was hoping to keep this truck for a long time, but lately been looking. i am glad the tacoma holds its value when/if i decide to move on.

Yes, I picked up my Trail Edition in late January. Searched a while until I found a Lunar Rock. It only came with the factory tonneau cover which I have to figure how to stop from leaking. How much are you looking to get for the predator steps?

Nice, did you buy it local? Is it the hard tri-fold oem cover or the soft one? I'm asking $400 for the steps.

I bought it from Mariano Rivera Toyota in Mount Kisco.

    It's the OEM hard tri-fold.

Hmmm. I'm definitely considering the steps. If I don't pull the trigger on them, I'll ask around to a few local friends with Tacos.

A few mentioned the 10/100 extended warranty. May I ask how your dealer charged? I know in the pass one dealer can be from another. Any Toyota dealerships out there offering discounts ?

    Thanks
