I'm planning to join in for the 18th but it still depends on weather in some ways. Today it's like zero degrees, 10-day forecast shows temps all the way up into mid-40s. Quite the large swing for camping. If temps are anywhere above like 10 degrees then I'm in but seeing how fast these crazy polar blasts come in it's anyones guess if the forecast holds. It's about 3.5 hours from me to BRF so ideally I'd camp on Friday as well but would arrive pretty late.

I don't care if we do Sparta-->BRF or BRF-->Medford because I haven't done either section before so it's all new to me.

Breakfast: I am in favor of it!

I have similar thoughts. I can't camp on Saturday night due to Sunday commitments, but I might do Friday, if it's not northern Siberian weather.

Yeah, I'm off Friday the 17th and up for Friday night camping. Not sure about Saturday night. Guess that depends how late we wheel and how far the drive home would be. Hoping the weather is reasonable for camping, but I've been in training!

Just waiting for a decision on where we're starting out. I've never been, so it's all good for me. I like breakfast also. :hungry:

I won't be coming along for this trip.
With upcoming Moab trip I'm spending my weekends either working of getting things ready.
This may change if I can get 3 things done by the 18th.

Yeah those might be very good options, looks like they are reservable through the WI DNR site and right now all sites are available. Likely we'd have the place to ourselves in either case.

Yep, but that also means you'd need a state parks sticker. Just got mine for 2023 in the mail last week. Need to get it on my truck before I lose it somewhere.

That is a good point, I already have the '23 sticker too but important for others if they don't have them yet.

I stayed at the Pigeon Creek campground last October when I drove the TWAT. It was nice, typical state park campgound with sites close-ish together. There are some hiking trails nearby as well.
I would be down for camping Friday night and possibly Saturday as well if enough people are interested.

I have my '23 sticker as well. Was just waiting on "warm weather" to apply it.

Ok, these campgrounds both sound like good options! I'm good with either one.

We could camp Friday and have everyone meet in BRF Saturday morning, with breakfast optional.

Run north as far as we feel like, and either return to camp Saturday night, or camp elsewhere.

@Camerasandcoffee , you mentioned some side trails up in the vicinity? Maybe it would be worth exploring.

Looked at both sites and they're wide open. Castle Mound has mostly electric sites, which cost a bit more, and also flush toilets and a shower, but who knows if those are open during the winter months. Pigeon Creek is mostly tent sites and cheaper, but vault toilets. You can book same day, so I'll probably just book a site for Friday night and then again on Saturday if needed.

So... which one? Maybe we let @Camerasandcoffee choose if he'd like to go back to Pigeon Creek or check off Castle Mound as a new one?

Okay, since a decision is not happening, how about this: We camp Friday night at Castle Mound in BRF. Is this a place we could all meet Saturday morning? Saturday night will be a maybe as I am going to probably head north from our terminus Saturday on the TWAT (Assuming we are going north...) I can be convinced to return South, but depending on how tired I am I might just go home... Does this work for the group??

I don't have a Wisc State Park sticker-can I get one there or do I need to do this online and just show proof if asked?

Sorry, I was at my nephew's birthday party and now I am on my way up to Grand Marsh to visit my ex.

Castle mound Friday night sounds good to me, unless anyone objects to that. We could return Saturday night, or camp at pigeon Creek or elsewhere.

I'll take a look at the map when I get a chance and see if there's a place we could grab breakfast Saturday morning, and possibly make that our meeting spot. Unless somebody already knows a good spot to get breakfast in Black River Falls.
