So I went helmet shopping today. I said I'll spend $500 ish. I went to 2 stores, looked at all kinds, tried on a few, even looked at more expensive ones. Nothing really grabbed me except the inexpensive hjc helmet. For some reason I always seem to gravitate to them, mostly because they just fit my oval head really good. It ticked all the boxes, drop down sun visor because I wear glasses and it works well with my glasses. Can install their comm system later if I want. It has pinlock shield. The shield can be cracked open and it doesn't have a shield lock which I don't care for. I'm not a sport bike rider, just a gentleman rider, more casual than speedy. I don't know, I just immediately felt comfortable in this helmet when I put it on. I walked around in the store with it on for awhile, lol, I should made vroom vroom sounds. I had to order it in white because they didn't have one, it'll match the white on the tank of my bonneville. And the best part it was only $229 !
Now I just gotta figure out how to chin mount my gopro.

I think @cynicalrider has a good chin mount option.

i haven't figured out if i want to video my rides. I mean i do want to, but pretty sure my computer doesn't have the power to edit videos

No need to talk to anybody else, too busy talking to myself while riding.

I ended up getting longer bolts and washers and lock nuts for the center st and. I saw that some of the other bolts were also loose so I decided lock nuts on the back side would be a good idea.

(yes, my bike is very crusty. I'll clean it at some point, I hope)

That looks awesome! If my bike didn't already seemingly have electrical issues, I'd be very tempted to get it.

I run a Zumo XT as well. My prior was the Zumo 550 (it was very robust) and then an Zumo 396. The 396 was very unimpressive and not a worthy replacement for the 550. I almost gave up on Garmin motorcycle GPS and was ready to buy the TomTom motorcycle GPS when the XT came out.

    The XT is very good.

I BT connected to my Galaxy phone and my Sena headset. Works well for streaming either Pandora or the music downloaded to the phone. I have not tried putting music on a micro SD card in the Zumo. Need to try that.

I do have to stop and switch between downloaded music and Pandora using the phone.

The Zumo’s turn-by-turn directions, as you noted, step on the helmet-to-helmet comms.

I use the Zumo on motorcycle and when I offloaded my truck. It worked well in both.

My foam today pales in comparison to yours, impressive.

Also got out on the Grom for a bit and shot an intro video and some drone flybys of it. We’ll see if I get around to editing that down tonight or not. I think I’m up to 12 miles now

Is that the I90? I have the I90 and like it, put a Cardo packtalk slim on it (Velcro’d the piece on the back that is supposed to Clip in as the I90 is made for the sena crap) my two complaints would be ventilation and I feel like the chin bar is very close, if I bump my jaw out to give a big underbite my chin hits the chinbar.

That’s probably because you know how to use your foam cannon and I do not  I didn’t know you were supposed to dilute the soap in the bottle so whatever soap the pressure washer Venturi’d out of the bottle it mixed with the little bit of water and kaboom, thick foam.

Just looked at the bike: 14.5 miles at 93.1mpg avg so far is .15 gallons or just under 20oz of gas

I definitely put in less soap than I'm supposed to, my bottle has a little line you're supposed to fill it up to but it's sooo much soap, I always feel like it can't be right, put less in, and then just accept whatever thin suds come out. Still useful as a prewash even if it isn't very thick.

I bought a gallon of Adam’s polishes soap and went through about 12 ounces washing the bike and my wife’s explorer, not bad IMO for the volume of soap. I need to get some mitts and a brush so I can actually wash the things instead of just spraying the foam on and pressure washing the vehicle clean.

Found this gem of a bike on CL yesterday. It is a 2006 Honda CBR600RR with only 4,363 miles. Aside from a tidy tail, it is completely stock. It needs a good bath, polish and oil change, but that is about it. I ended up picking it up for $4,200. A dealer that is local to me has the same bike with 14k miles listed for $6.5k plus fees, so I think I made out pretty well.

I just got one of the CarPlay units for my bike. It works great. Wireless phone connection, works with gloves, Bluetooth to my headphones, it was way less than a garmin unit.

    I got it on eBay
