I've had my 2004 DC for a little over 10 years now. The frame is decent shape with some surface rust in all the expected places. This is my forever truck and I'm interested in having a shop strip the truck down to the frame and address any/all rust issues so its good for another 20 years. The truck has 135,000 miles and has plenty of life left in it.

I'm based around Asheville, NC and looking for a shop that could do a teardown and address the rust issues. Unfortunately I don't have the time or resources to do it myself. Can anyone recommend a shop in Eastern TN, central-western NC, northern GA or SC that's familiar with our trucks?

Did the truck come from up north? Shops in NC probably aren't used to dealing with major rust, so it might be hard to find someone willing to touch it.

The truck spent its first 6-7 years in New Jersey. It had the frame rust inspection performed per the recall campaign a few times around 2010-2012. I got the truck in 2012 and it spent the next 10 years in Southern California. I had the frame inspected by Toyota once in 2017 with nothing worse that surface rust observed.

I'm looking to have it stripped/sanded, treated, and coated. I suppose any frame shop could do this but if it turns out that I'll need SafeTCap's or some other patch/welding, I might need a shop with more specific experience. There's a shop in Swannanoa, NC that does SafeTCap work, but they only do spot treatment.
