I put a heavy steel bar between two joists, then used a block and tackle and some ratchet straps. Made it pretty easy.

it looks like you are trusting those dreaded rope hooks to do the job!

Old thread, I’ve been looking for ways to remove bed by myself for future repairs and this looks doable. Did you lift this by yourself? What was your solution for clearing the fuel neck? Also, do you have a picture of your block and tackle setup?

I’m currently installing saf-t-caps at a friends garage and we used his Lull to pick the bed. It definitely required both of us and some finagling to clear the neck. In my head, I imagine doing it myself and pulling straight up with a rope and pulley will snag it. (I’ve noticed some things that will require attention this summer and I don’t want to bug this guy to use his stuff all the time, so I’d like to find a way to remove the bed myself in my garage.) thanks for any input

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I have found the easy way for me is to use a engine type hoist to pick the bed from the side when alone .

Then move the truck out towards the front .

I just very easy move the filler neck out of the way and tie it fast. Know old dry rotted rubber likes to break.

I just did mine last summer, I don’t think it weighs more than a couple hindered pounds if that. Myself and my neighbour (average guys) lifted it off with no problem. Just watch out for the bumper if you don’t remove it as it can scratch the bed pretty easily. I covered mine with some towels.

replaced the fender skins and blasted the rust on the bed and surface rust on the new frame. Then I painted and bedlinered the underside of the bed. Good as new!

I did it myself, a buddy would have been useful. I don’t really have any other pics, there wasn’t a whole lot to it though. Just had to take my time and make sure I had enough free rope that I could tie it off, move something around, then keep going.
